Treasury confirmed today those TDA accounts are not a primarily driver of the reforms as much as basic banking access and maintenance for under privileged citizens.
The TDA accounts were left in place and transitioned over to the new financial system for the millions of Americans that either don’t have currency to redeem or everyday bank accounts–and could not get one prior to the public conversion.
As you know, the old banking system intentionally locked out as many Americans as possible for a variety of non holistic reasons. Hope this helps.
