Big news in the world of Geophysics, Geology, Seismology, and Volcanology :
February 20, 2018 — News breaking today regarding research being done by professionals in regards to “Cratons” and their interior boundaries, rise points, and thickness — all pertaining to seismic activity which is arising on these craton boundaries.
Here on this channel , we have discussed the interior craton boundaries, their vulnerability for seismic activity, and the ultimate cause behind the force causing the movement to begin with.
It has now been found that likely “mantle plumes” are causing a type of pressure to form on the underside of the interior older portions of the plate, forming new sections underneath which are more buoyant above the asthenosphere.
Deeper portions below the plate have been found to either break off, or have cavities which are allowing for newer portions to form on the under side of the plate. The newer portions are believed to be “lighter” or more buoyant than the older portion of the plates above, allowing for an ultimate “rise” to occur from beneath.
This rise may be leading to seismic activity spreading across the plates craton boundaries.

Marker height off the globe represents depth into the Earth.
When an earthquake strikes, you will hear a rumble, ding, and a bell toll. The bell will toll the number of times = to the earthquake which occurs. (example : M4.0 will ring 4 times).
The most recent earthquake has a green placemark / flag on it.
Blue flag / placemark = the last earthquake which was looked up
