April 23, 2018 – The lava lake at Kilauea has overflowed into the crater following an almost 2 week long earthquake swarm at the volcano. This volcano is located on Southeast flank of Hawaii’s “Big Island”.
The magma surged through the chamber, and was forced out the top of the crater inside the greater Kilauea complex, thus covering the outside of the crater with a new layer of lava.
