Researchers at the University of Sussex and Swansea have discovered that they can apply an electric charge to manipulate the liquid metal. When it does, the liquid metal is then manipulated into letters and other 2D shapes. The researchers said the results represent a new class of highly promising materials that could be programmed to alter the shape without problems. The researchers stated that this could open new possibilities in the field of soft robotics along with displays that are able to change shape.
