In July 2017 Khaled Alkhateb, a freelance journalist working with RT, was killed in militant shelling in Syria. To honor his sacrifice, RT has established the Khaled Alkhateb memorial awards. They will recognize war reporters who often risk their lives for the sake of the truth and, through that, peace.
