The Japanese Self Defence Forces (SDF) began their four-day military drill in Higashi-Fuji firing range in Gotemba, some 100km (60mi) from Tokyo, on Sunday.
Japanese Defence Minister Itsunori Onodera attended the annual drill where 2,400 soldiers, tanks, field guns and helicopters took part in various military exercises.
