Italy’s hosting an international conference on Libya this Monday. The aim is to end the conflict in the country that’s been dragging on since the ousting of Colonel Gaddafi in 2011. France has also been trying to establish itself as a regional peacemaker, though as Murad Gazdiev explains, there could be an ulterior motive behind all the apparent good intentions.
