On 11 March 2011 Following a major earthquake, a 15-metre tsunami disabled the power supply and cooling of three Fukushima Daiichi reactors meltdown. All three cores largely melted in the first three days.
From day one, contaminated radioactive water leaked from the three units mixing with groundwater and today, 150 tons of groundwater continues to percolate into the reactors through cracks in their foundations, becoming contaminated with radioactive isotopes in the process.
Apart from the occasional newspaper article saying that everything is ok, the broadcast media has forgotten or ignored Fukushima.
