This week’s arctic cold outbreak brought the coldest temperatures since the 1990s to parts of the upper Midwest, but an early-February thaw will bring much warmer air to the Midwest and Northeast this weekend and early next week.
Particularly in the Midwest, temperatures will rapidly rebound, with some cities experiencing highs this weekend 60 to 70 degrees warmer than their subzero lows Wednesday and Thursday morning.
