Thousands of revellers descended on the Sambadrome arena for Rio de Janeiro’s world famous carnival parade on Sunday. The festive crowd watched Rio de Janeiro’s elite samba schools parade and showcase themed performances despite the rain. Carnival celebrations are taking place from March 1 until March 9.
