Massive Sinkhole The Size Of A Football Field Opens Up In Kentucky

Officials with the Louisville Zoo and Mega Caverns announced Thursday evening they will be closed again Friday as engineers continue to probe the massive sinkhole that was discovered Wednesday on zoo property.

The Zoo hopes to be open for its Snow Leopard Exhibit event Saturday, but will continue to use extreme caution to make sure public grounds are safe before re-opening.

The Tennessee earthquake Tuesday night did initially close the Mega Cavern before the sinkhole was discovered, but a University of Louisville Geologist told WAVE 3 News he does not believe the earthquake caused that sinkhole. He, like others, believes it’s weather related.
