Location: rural area of Heze, Shandong Province, China
We visited family in another city during the Chinese New Year holiday and drove back today.
Upon arriving at Heze, I called the village head, telling him that we already reported our return to local authorities and they said we can self-quarantine inside our residence. However, the village head did not allow us to enter the village, and he harshly said, “Go wherever you want to. We don’t care. We only want to make sure that you leave our village.”
We are helpless. See, we have cookware, a gas tank, and a gas stove, and we need to take care of our kids. Here I am, we are outside. We plan to sleep outside tonight. See, right here, on the street. There is no way out.
I sought help from the local government, they could not help. I called the city’s helpline 12345, the mayor’s hotline and the local coronavirus control headquarter. They cannot provide any help.
A village cadre told me that it is no use no matter who I tried to contact for help, and I have to leave anyway. I asked him, “So what am I supposed to do?” He replied, “I don’t care. As long as you leave, you can go wherever you want to.”
I can tell you my current location. Here is Zhangke Village. This road is University Road, the other road going from north to south is Yunchuan Road.
I thought that while contagion is merciless, humans have mercy. Unexpectedly, humans are even more merciless than the contagion! We are prepared to sleep on the street today.
We haven’t had dinner yet. We are going to cook outside tonight. See, these are our quilts. We will sleep by the roadside. This is University Road, it is where we are going to sleep.
I hope related departments and related leaders can offer some help to us. We have two kids.
