When employees of Songsen Textile Company went to work on Monday, May 18, they found that all the sewing machines were gone and there was no electricity.
Songsen Textile Company is a garment and bedding maker in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. The company owner did not notify the employees of the shutdown, and furtively removed all the machines over the weekend.
Female employee:
See, during the two-day weekend, the machines were removed and the factory is now empty. We came back to work today, but there is no machine, no electricity.
These people are here to get started with this week’s work, but even electricity is gone.
Then they forced us to leave.
