“Villagers at Hedong village of Liuzhou city, Guangxi Province, elected a representative, Zhang Chunming, to help them sue local officials for secretly selling their land. However, on June 29, local police kidnapped Zhang after they intercepted him on the road, and placed him in detention.
Police smashed Zhang’s car windows and forcibly took him away. They also confiscated the legal evidence for the lawsuit which Zhang kept inside his car.
Zhang used his cellphone to record the whole incident while being assaulted by the police.
He called out for help in the video. Afterward, hundreds of outraged villagers rushed to the police station to demand his release.”
