Australia suspended its extradition agreement with Hong Kong and extended a hand to help Hong Kong residents. Australia changed its policies to extend offerings to skilled visa holders to five years and also offer them a pathway to permanent residency.

In response to the Chinese regime’s malicious smearing of Western countries by accusing them of interfering in internal affairs by granting Hong Kong people asylum, the Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison, emphasized that visa policy is Australia’s internal affair.

Two days after the implementation of the National Security Law, Australia updated the travel advisory to Hong Kong indicating that travelers might inadvertently break laws and face penalties of life imprisonment.
