Prime Minister Boris Johnson ordered Huawei equipment to be purged completely from Britain’s 5G network by 2027. The seven-year lag will please British telecoms operators such as BT, Vodafone, and Three, which had feared they would be forced to spend billions of pounds to rip out Huawei equipment much faster.

From the end of the year, it will be illegal for operators to buy any 5G equipment from Huawei, Britain’s Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Secretary Oliver Dowden told parliament.

Boris Johnson said the decision would mean a delay to the roll-out of 5G by two to three years, and add costs of up to 2 billion pounds ($2.5 billion USD).

Sun Qian, a Chinese Canadian who practices Falun Gong, has been illegally detained by the Chinese Communist Party. Recently, she was sentenced to 8 years in prison by Beijing’s Chaoyang People’s Court. This case has been highly publicized. Sun’s former defense lawyer, Xie Yan-Yi, indicated that the trial is a total violation of the legal process and the result is illegal and invalid. In addition, an insider revealed that Sun’s mother has reported the illegal activities of several of the CCP’s agencies.

An insider who is quite informed about the case revealed to NTD that Sun Qian’s mother wrote letters to the Beijing Chaoyang People’s Court, pointing out that Sun’s case is a false accusation as a result of Public Security officials colluding with criminal gangs with the intention to embezzle foreign assets. The insider said that Sun’s mother, Li Yun-Xiu, questioned the related authorities in the letter: “Sun follows Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance, and is a good person. What law did she break? Who is the victim? Is the victim dead or hurt? If the Public Security Bureau cannot provide relative evidence to these questions, how can the judge make such a verdict? Besides, Article 300 of the Criminal Law addresses cults and according to the Law of China, it does not apply to Falun Gong. All Falun Gong books and documents are legal in China. Sun Qian should have many rights listed in the Constitution.”

When Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, visited China in December 2017, he mentioned Sun’s case to Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang. Deputy Prime Minister of Canada Chrystia Freeland, many government official leaders, Miss World of Canada Anastasia Lin, and Canadian citizens have all been calling out the CCP to release Sun Qian.

Former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, Irwin Cotler, said that the previous abuse and torture suffered by Sun Qian was brutal.

Today no one knows the torture she suffered in solitary confinement or how many threats she was subjected to. The sentencing of Sun Qian is an attempt by the Chinese Communist Party to convict an innocent person, not because of anything she has done, but simply because of her belief in truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance.

Liu Li-Peng who worked at Sina Weibo and at Leshi Internet Information and Technology Corp., fled to the U.S. from China this year.

In recent interviews with The Epoch Times and NTD, he exposed the Chinese Communist Party’s increasingly severe censorship, information control, and manipulation of public opinion that is being exported overseas to threaten freedom of speech in free societies.

Liu said that the Chinese Communist Party recruits staff within the system, from universities, colleges and high schools and all kinds of prisoners to form a group of internet commentators, commonly known as “Wumao (fifty cents)” to carry out the CCP’s operational orders and control public opinion.

Liu estimated that there are about 1 million to 2 million review editors belonging to Chinese private departments, the size is comparable to internet commentators. And the most sensitive words that the CCP fears are “June 4th” and “Falun Gong”. Liu said that as the CCP tightens the control of speech, internet censorship gets worse and worse, controlling public opinion and suppressing ideology. He said: “The CCP just keeps erasing people’s memories, the memory of the internet, and the ability of the internet to remember, and then keeps distorting the truth.”

Liu now cherishes freedom of speech after he arrived in the U.S.

Liu Li-Peng is disgusted with the CCP’s censorship. He collected many censorship orders and related documents and has offered them to the Committee to Protect Journalists and Canadian Citizen Lab for research.
