Women posing with the enormous obsidian spear points recovered from Mound No. 17 during excavations of the Hopewell Mound Group in Ross County, Ohio, circa 1892.

The Hopewell Mound Group was extensively excavated in the early 1890s by Warren K. Moorehead to collect archaeological artifacts for the World’s Columbian Exposition, held in Chicago in 1893.

As you can see in the photograph, these spear points are absolutely gigantic in size.
