Amidst all of the reports from and about the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), most of it in the last ten days is good news.

An excellent article entitled, “He Runs VA. He Soothes Trump. He Is: The Most Interesting Doctor In The World”, discusses the challenges Dr. Shullkin has experienced in his new position. As VA Secretary. After all, he is the first in this position with two attributes that are totally different from all of his predecessors: he’s not a veteran but he is an M.D. Many veterans think this is one good way for the VA to get their house in order.

And the VA announced last week a “Plan to Dispose Of Or Reuse All Its Vacant Buildings in 24 Months” (either by demolishing or setting for reuse). VA Secretary, Dr. David Shulkin said,

“We owe it to the American taxpayer to apply as much of our funding as possible to helping Veterans. “Maintaining vacant buildings, including close to 100 from the Revolutionary War and Civil War, makes no sense and we’re working as quickly as possible to get them out of our inventory.”
Then last week, President Trump signed the “Department of Veterans Affairs Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act of 2017”. This bill will now allow Dr. Shulkin more freedom to reprimand or fire VA employees for failing to carry out the duties of their office. This is not automatic since all VA employees have an opportunity for an Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) for a review of their circumstances. Basically, the grievance procedure has been well established for years.

Veterans of Foreign Wars National Commander Brian Duffy commented,

“Accountability must be a two-way street, and today’s signing now provides VA Secretary Dr. David Shulkin the authority to manage his people in a manner expected of all senior executives, public or private. Weeding out the non-performers and those whose personal conduct brings doubt and dishonor upon thousands of dedicated employees is essential to restoring the full faith of veterans in their VA.”

We can only hope that with this new too., Dr. Shulkin will be much more able to get rid of the troublesome personnel who were involved with the VA appointment scandal.

But it’s not all good news, depending on your point-of-view. First, Military Times is reporting Veterans with other-than-honorable discharges will be able to access Veterans Affairs emergency rooms for urgent mental health care starting July 5,

At first, this idea may dismay many veterans, but Dr. Shulkin had a more important reason for this decision: he was recently quoted saying,

“We have 20 veterans a day taking their lives; that’s totally unacceptable.”

and

“Suicide prevention is my top clinical priority,” Shulkin said in a statement. “We want these former service members to know there is someplace they can turn if they are facing a mental health emergency, whether it means urgent care at a VA emergency department, a Vet Center or through the Veterans Crisis Line.”

Actually, saving veterans lives is always a good thing to do.

And finally, veterans should register with non-profit Veteran Tickets Foundation (Vet Tix) to have access to hundreds of free events for them and their families during the remainder of the year. Vet Tix has provided veterans, service members, caregivers and family members of those killed in action with more than three million free tickets to major sports games, concerts, and a diverse mix of other ticketed events

Indeed, they list on their website 2, 073, 294 tickets (and counting) they have already distributed.

To give you an idea of what’s coming up in July, Task & Purpose lists 21 events occurring in just this month alone.

We can only hope good news will continue to occur from and about the VA over the next six months of 2017!

In statements echoed by President Trump on Twitter, two prominent Republican senators have called for the GOP to skip the health care overhaul and focus on simple repeal of Obamacare if Republican Senate leadership cannot find 50 votes to move the current health care reform bill forward. Earlier this week, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) announced that a vote on the health care bill would be delayed until after the July 4 recess.

In a letter to the White House quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) said, “On the current path it looks like Republicans will either fail to pass any meaningful bill at all, or will instead pass a bill that looks to prop up many of the crumbling Obama care structures.”

“We must keep our word,” Sasse continued. “Therefore, if on July 10 we don’t have agreement on a combined repeal and replace plan, we should immediately vote again on… the December 2015 Obamacare repeal legislation that the Congress passed but President Obama vetoed.”

Within a few minutes of Sen. Sasse’s discussion of re-introducing the 2015 bill, HR 3762, President Trump tweeted support for the idea. “If Republican Senators are unable to pass what they are working on now, they should immediately REPEAL, and then REPLACE at a later date!” Trump said on Twitter.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) also endorsed the idea. “I have spoken to @realDonaldTrump & Senate leadership about this and agree. Let’s keep our word to repeal then work on replacing right away,” Paul tweeted.
The 2015 bill in question, HR 3762, was not technically a full repeal of Obamacare either since it also amended the Affordable Care Act rather than repealing it outright. A full repeal would require 60 votes for cloture in the Senate, which is far out of reach. The bill passed the Senate in a largely party line vote on December 3, 2015 by a 52-47 margin.

Sasse has not suggested a strategy for passing a 2017 version of the bill. The problem for Republicans on passage of the current health care reform bill is that nine Republican senators are reportedly in opposition to the bill. Assuming no Democrats cross the aisle, Republicans could lose no more than two senators and still be able to pass the bill.

The current Republican opposition to the health care reform is from both the center and the right wings of the GOP. Moderate Republicans such as Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Rob Portman (R-Ohio) argue that the bill hurts too many people on Medicaid in their states while conservatives such as Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Mike Lee (R-Utah) say that the bill does not go far enough in reforming Obamacare. With eroding support from both ends of Republican political spectrum, the current bill has little chance of passage.

Sasse’s plan to revive the 2015 bill is a partial answer in that it should bring the conservatives back on board. The problem is that Republicans would still need moderate votes to move the bill forward.

When the bill originally passed in 2015, Republicans held two more seats in the Senate than they do today. Back then, two Republicans crossed party lines to vote against the bill: Susan Collins and Mark Kirk (R-Ill.). Kirk lost his seat to Democrat Tammy Duckworth in 2016, but Collins is still in the Senate and could be counted on to vote against the bill once again. That leaves Republicans with a one vote margin.

Earlier this year, The Resurgent reported that four Republican senators who had voted for the 2015 bill would refuse to vote for a bill that did not allow a slow phase out of the Obamacare Medicaid expansion. If Shelly Moore-Capito (R-W.V.), Rob Portman (R-Ohio), Corey Gardner (R-Col.) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) stick to their pledge, it would doom Sasse’s plan.

Still, a deficit of five votes is a more surmountable obstacle than the deficit of nine votes that the GOP currently faces. It is possible that pressure could be brought to bear on the four senators who previously voted for the bill that would keep them in the “yes” column.

An additional risk would be with the reform that still must come after the passage of the near-repeal. Democrats might be persuaded to join the reform effort if most of Obamacare was gutted, but they might also adopt a you-break-it-you-bought-it policy that would allow them to campaign against the Republican-created chaos in the health care markets in 2018 and beyond. Given recent Democrat obstructionism, there is little doubt which course they would take.

Still, as the Republican health care reform seems increasingly dead in the water, Sasse’s plan, long shot that it is, may be the only viable option to keep the GOP promise to repeal and replace Obamacare.

And once again the lawmakers from the Looney Liberal state of Kalifornia have taken it upon themselves to dictate policy to what is the real America!

When Liberal lawmakers in California can’t accept a fact that doesn’t agree with their skewed world views they do what all Liberals who can’t win at the ballot box do. They resort to using the liberal courts, which have been stacked with liberal judges who are known for taking it upon themselves to legislate from the bench in order to shove their Liberal agendas down our collective throats.
Last week California expanded it’s state-sponsored travel ban to include eight American states over LGBTQ123XZZ rights to use the ladies room. But now they have gone a step further by declaring an all out war on individuals and contractors who work on President Trump’s proposed border wall. But the best part about this two-pronged attack to go after those who California lawmakers disagree with is that it only hurts the state of California and its citizens who can hardly keep their heads above water as it is.

Ricardo Lara, D-Bell Gardens, would blacklist companies who help to build the controversial border wall that President Donald Trump has promised to build — a project estimated to cost more than $20 billion, funding the president has yet to secure.

“It is not enough to simply oppose this wall in theory,” said Lara, calling this a “defining moment” for California.

SB 30 is one of two bills taking aim at contractors who choose to work on the border wall. Assembly Bill 946 by Assemblyman Phil Ting, D-San Francisco, would force the state to drop its pension investments in any companies involved in the project.

Hundreds of companies have expressed interest in border wall-related construction projects, including a number in the Bay Area, but the government has not released the number of bids it received before the deadline earlier this month.

Lobbyists for contractors spoke out against the bill Tuesday at a hearing of the Senate Committee on Governmental Organization, saying it would create a slippery slope.

“This is precedent setting,” said Todd Bloomstine, of the Southern California Contractors Association. “What next unpopular project would we blacklist for contractors?”
The bill will be heard next by the Senate Appropriations Committee.

The state of California is already struggling financially because they have mastered the fine art of driving away business, have outrageous unsecured pension liabilities, take in an unlimited number of illegals, and have the largest population in the nation who rely on taxpayer welfare to live.

The official federal poverty level in the US for a household of 4 was $23,850 in 2014. A family of four in California would need an average of more than $63,000 a year. That’s nearly triple the federal poverty level only to be able to cover its basic needs of food and housing. If you ask me the 63k number is a bit low still, the real number should be around the 80k mark.

Yes, folks, California isn’t just Hollyweird, Disneyland, Apple, and Google. In fact, California boasts both the richest people in the nation and the poorest people in the nation, all in one state. But luckily for the rich, they don’t even have to look at the poor because they don’t live anywhere near where the rich people live. So it works out fine and the rich California Liberals don’t need to face what their extreme Liberal policies have done to this once golden state and its people.

President Donald Trump has finally broken with tradition and not recognized June as the official LGBT Pride Month. OMG, How will we go on living?

His decision marks an end to both Clinton and Obama’s tradition of officially recognizing the month.

There’s a certain amount of spotlight that comes with being the first family, it’s just part of the job. The President and First Lady and all of their children, step children, children in law and grandchildren have shown that they have an amazing bond and great working relationship. Everybody has an opinion on what is right or wrong about the first family, and that includes other celebrities. One such less than tactful individual is former legendary singer Cher. This has-been singer with her own set of family problems thought it would be a good time to share her unwanted opinion on the family in the White House. She has declared that they’re unhappy, Melania doesn’t want to be there and President Trump doesn’t actually love his son, Barron. Kinda seems like a lot to get from watching tv on the couch, but I guess that’s her opinion. Unfortunately for her, Melania doesn’t have anything to worry about in her marriage, and she’s taking the whole thing in stride.

President Donald Trump has already taken huge steps to Making America Great Again!

Following a unanimous decision by the United States Supreme Court last week which gave the power to lower courts to strip the citizenship of immigrants who lied during the process of becoming a naturalized citizen. A court in Houston Texas did just that to a Mexico national who lied when applying for citizenship back in 1996.

According to the Department of Justice this scumbag, Jose Arizmendi, when asked if he had ever been convicted of any crime other than just traffic violations replied “No.” But that wasn’t true. Just a few months before he had pleaded guilty in a Harris County court to aggravated sexual assault of a minor child which led to him accepted a 10-year probation deal offered by the local DA. He should have gone to prison for life if you ask me.

At the beginning of the week, the Supreme Court ruled that the travel restrictions, which President Trump was attempting to put into place, could go into effect. As you can imagine liberal’s heads were exploding. One particular liberal loon who seems to have lost his mind is the Hawaii Attorney General Douglas Chin.

Mr. Chin seems to not understand that no matter what he does, the Supreme Court has the final say. Mr. Chin, who does not believe in protecting Americans, and is only interested in making a name for himself within the Democratic party, (not necessarily a highlight) filed an emergency challenge to stop the decision of the Supreme Court, even though the travel restrictions the Supreme Court ruled on went into effect as of Thursday June 29th, 2017.

The travel ban, or restrictions, which ever way you choose to call it, allows the United States Government to put in place a 90 day ban on travel for those individuals’ coming from Iran, Libya, Syria, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. Specifically, if the traveler does not have close family ties or established business relationships in the United States, they are subject to being denied entry into the United States. Makes sense right? To not allow people into our homeland that may want to kill us? Well not for the loony left and folks like Mr. Chin. They are under some sort of delusion that we should just let everyone in and be nice. Right. And we saw how well lazy travel restrictions have worked in the United Kingdom. And just so we are clear this travel ban does not affect those travelers’ who already have a valid green card or visa. This travel ban affects people from Iran, Libya, Syria, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen, with no legitimate and established connection in the United States, who may want to kill Americans.

Life in the White House is a whole lot of hustle and bustle. Everything is important, and everything’s got to get done now. Especially all of the things happening in the Oval Office. The President has the incredible responsibility of signing bills into laws, sending out executive orders and building relationships with foreign dignitaries. This comes with its own set of challenges, like the media that feels the need to record every single move that he makes.

The media is extremely vetted before ever getting near the President or any of the other high profile people who enter the West Wing of the White House, however, when there’s only so much President and so many square feet around him to do their jobs, things can get ugly. The media that usually have clearance to be in the Oval office was recently expanded to include the local affiliates of South Korean news organizations while the South Korean leader and his wife are visiting the President and First Lady in Washington.

Since these are people usually unfamiliar with the practices of the White House in general, and the Oval Office specifically, they didn’t quite behave the way they were supposed to. They got so out of hand at one point that the President actually called them down. They pushed and shoved until they displaced the furniture, knocked over a table and lamp and put the President’s bodyguard on extreme alert.

‘They knocked the table down,’ he said.

‘It’s actually a very friendly press. Don’t let that get you, although we just lost a table.’

Schiller, one of Trump’s longest-serving aides, was famously dispatched to the FBI quarters on May 9 with a letter telling then-director James Comey that he was being fired.”

It seems that the press was only more out of hand than usual because of the increased presence, but that didn’t keep the President from holding them to his regular standard. One could assume that President Moon Jae-in was smiling because it’s really not his problem to deal with. It would be kind of like if you’re at a friend’s house and their kids are acting up. You just smile and thank heaven it’s their kids and not yours because you don’t have to deal with the problem.

Recently a relatively unknown Democratic Congressman named Jamie Raskin, has started flapping his jaws about a bill he wants approved to have a committee thrown together to assess the mental health of the President in the hopes of being able to impeach President Trump. What makes this so hilarious is that Raskin’s is the BIGGEST liberal politician there is. Raskin’s is a self-proclaimed atheist. The Congressman is anti-gun, pro-abortion, pro-assisted suicide, a climate change believer and just so happens to be married to the Obama appointed former U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, Sarah Bloom. He is also quite close to Elizabeth Warren, go figure!
Let’s not forget that Raskin said in an interview that Trump’s Inaugural speech was the “meanest” in U.S. history. Being a “Constitutional Law” Professor I would think he would know that his backdoor tactics and false claims against the President will never fly, but then again he doesn’t seem too bright.

A Freshman Congressman has proposed a bill that could potentially remove President Trump from office. CNN Reported: Washington (CNN)Pointing to the outcry over President Donald Trump’s latest controversial tweets, freshman Rep. Jamie Raskin is urging his colleagues to get behind a bill that could potentially oust the President if he was mentally or physically unfit. The Maryland Democrat wants to create an 11-member commission made up of mostly physicians and psychiatrists — more formally called the “Oversight Commission on Presidential Capacity.”

The panel would carry out a medical examination and determine whether the President was physically or mentally able to do the job. Two of the commission’s members would also be former high ranking officials, such as presidents, vice presidents, attorneys general or secretaries of state. It’s a provocative and long-shot effort, but Raskin is citing as his legal backup the 25th Amendment of the Constitution, which was adopted in 1967 after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy to establish procedure in the case a president is incapacitated. About two dozen Democrats have signed on to the effort as of Thursday.

Raskin is zeroing in on one section of that constitutional amendment, which allows the vice president to assume powers if either the majority of the Cabinet or “such other body as Congress” finds that the President is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of office.” (The vice president would also have to agree to the assessment of the President’s abilities.) Raskin is proposing his commission to serve as that “body.”

The President could appeal the decision, and a whopping two-thirds of both the House and the Senate would then need to agree with the commission’s assessment in order to keep the President out of office. If two-thirds fail to agree, then the President would be allowed to resume the powers and duties of the office. CNN reached out to the White House for comment on the proposal and has not yet received a response. Raskin, a former professor of constitutional law, first introduced the bill in April and before this week it had 20 co-sponsors (all Democrats). Another three Democrats joined as of Thursday, according to Raskin’s office.

All of America has been excitedly waiting for the first lady to make her way to D.C. and take up residence in the White House. A few weeks ago she finally did just that, and it’s obvious that she’s going to be a fantastic first lady and a great ambassador for the United States. She’s already achieved putting a much more tasteful spin on events like the Easter egg roll and entertaining of dignitaries.

Melania Trump’s lack of presence in Washington D.C. over the first few months of this administration was targeted as being because she didn’t actually have dedication to her husband or to the position of First Lady. However, as has been put forward time and time again, the delayed transfer was for the sake of keeping a pre-teen boy from haveing his life turned upside down any more than it already had been. Unlike our former First Lady, Melania Trump has made an effort to let at least some of her world revolve around her offspring, instead of pushing him off on others as much as possible.

The latest example of the upgrade that America received in Melania v. Michelle was when she stood up for her husband (you know, like wives are supposed to do) after he was attacked. He, of course, retaliated against that attacker, but the left is on his case about it. Between that, and the visiting leaders from South Korea, Melania has had her hands full, and the media is trying to catch her in any kind of screw up.

Kate’s Law passed through the House 257 to 167, 24 Democrats voted for the bill. Congressman Amash was the only Republican to vote against Kate’s Law.

Kate’s Law was named after Kate Steinle, a San Francisco woman murdered by an illegal immigrant who remained in the United States despite multiple deportations.

The Michigan lawmaker also voted against H.R. 3003, the No Sanctuary for Criminals Act, a bill that would defund cities that prevent their police from turning over illegal aliens to federal authorities.

Rep. Amash explained his opposition to both Kate’s Law and the No Sanctuary for Criminals Act, citing that they would violate the Constitution in a tweet. He did not elaborate how exactly these bills violate the Constitution.
Congressman Amash became one of the Republican lawmakers to discuss impeaching President Donald Trump.

The New York Times reported that President Trump allegedly tried to pressure former FBI Director James Comey to drop an investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn, according to a memo written by Comey.

Amash, asked if the details of the Comey memo were true, said, “Yes,” that he would support impeachment if they were true.

“But everybody gets a fair trial in this country,” the Michigan representative added.

Democrat ineptitude has forced President Trump to step in and clean up their mess.

President Trump is sending the Feds into Chicago. “Crime and killings in Chicago have reached such epidemic proportions that I am sending in Federal help. 1714 shootings in Chicago this year!” he said in a tweet (via FOX News).

Chicago was warned by the president in his first week in office that if they cannot address the problem of gun violence, he would be forced to send in reinforcements.

President Trump has been quietly sending agents from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) into the Democrat city to help local police.

Now, President Trump has committed an addition 20 ATF agents to form a strike force in cooperation with Illinois State Police and the Chicago Police Department.

“Murders are way, way too high,” said Attorney General Jeff Sessions, supporting President Trump. “We’ll have an impact in reducing shootings in Chicago.”

Session went on to criticize policies of the City of Chicago for demoralizing local police departments who are struggling to catch criminals.
The murder clearance rate in Chicago, which measures the number of murder cases that end with an arrest or death of the offender, has stagnated below 3o percent for over three years (via USA Today).

Last year, Chicago and Illinois police could only clear 25.6 percent of the murders that occurred in the city. The abysmal clearance rate is a black mark on the Chicago Police Department, and the Democrat-controlled city council and Mayor’s office.

The ATF agents will be helping local police solve more murders while also tracking down the traffickers funneling guns to inner city gangs. The ATF agents will be joined by prosecutors from the U.S. Attorneys Office who will determine if criminals should face punishments at the state or federal level.

The head of the Chicago Police Department says the goal is to get as many criminals off the streets as possible. Criminals will face charges with the longest sentences to clean up the streets.

A man has reportedly been jailed for six and a half months after berating a Muslim mom and her daughter before smacking the latter in the face with a pack of bacon.

According to The Mirror, on June 8, 36-year-old Alex Chivers called the pair “ISIL scum” before shouting, “you deserve this” and hitting the teenage girl with the meat.

The outlet states that Chivers had a friend film the incident. The pair then posted it online.
“This was a truly shocking incident,” The Mirror quotes DC James Payne of the Metropolitan Police as stating.

“The victim was out with her mother and getting on with her day when Chivers abused her and then set upon her with something he knew would both upset and offend her.”

Payne reportedly added, “we know other people were present during this attack, including an associate of Chivers’ who filmed the incident. Enquiries are ongoing to trace these people.”

“The community safety unit here in Enfield would encourage all victims of hate crime to contact police so that the culprits can be identified and brought to justice.”

According to official data from the city’s Office of Statistics and Elections, more than half of Frankfurt residents, for the first time, have a migrant background.

It goes without saying that US Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), is one of the larger and more constitutional voices in the US House of Representatives. The former federal prosecutor has no qualms about asking the tough questions and pursuing the constitutional road less traveled.

In one of his more pointed and cogent House floor speeches making the rounds on social media, Gowdy advanced a bit of constitutional literacy to his fellow congressmen. The 2014 speech was in support of the Enforce the Law Act, which would have enabled Congress to sue the Executive Branch over its selective enforcement of the laws. “The House of Representatives does not exist to pass ‘suggestions,’” Gowdy thundered. “We make law.”
The issue of the Executive Branch’s selective enforcement of the law has come to a pinnacle under Barack Obama. His use of Executive Orders and regulations to affect law – and his refusal to enforce laws beyond any semblance of prosecutorial discretion – is unconstitutional and unprecedented.

It was this exact refusal to enforce federal laws that moved Republicans in Congress to advance legislation to the Senate that would have given Congress the ability to achieve standing to bring suit against the Executive Branch – in this case the Obama Administration – for failing to “faithful execute” the laws of our nation.

Gowdy, speaking to his fellow congressmen as colleagues instead of entertaining partisans, posited the question of what is the body’s recourse when law has been passed by the US Congress and affirmed by the US Supreme Court, only to be ideologically and/or politically nullified by the Executive Branch through non-enforcement.

“The House of Representatives does not exist to pass ‘suggestions,’” Gowdy said. “We do not exist to pass ‘ideas.’ We make law. And while you are free to stand and clap, when any president comes into this hallowed chamber and promises to do it ‘with or without you,’ I will never stand and clap when any president – no matter if he is from your party or mine – promises to make us a constitutional anomaly and afterthought. We make law!”

Indeed, our nation exists to a great extent constitutionally illiterate. Many believe that the President of the United States, once elected, has a mandate to do whatever he or she chooses whenever they feel like it.

But this is absolutely not the case. In fact, the Executive Branch is tasked with “faithfully executing” the laws of the land. Those laws are crafted in the US Congress and either signed into law by the president or vetoed by the president. Even then, Congress can override a presidential veto.

A triangulated recourse to a veto override resides with the Judiciary Branch’s ability to cite constitutionality. This triangular check and balance allows for three co-equal branches of government that constantly maintain a balance of power. This balance wards off tyranny.

Gowdy, in this speech especially, proves why we must be a constitutionally literate nation and a nation bound by the rule of law. When we move away from the rule of law and embrace the social engineering of the Progressives, we cease to be a Constitutional Republic; We the People cease to be represented in government.

Dutch beer company Heineken is now shipping their beer with a sick message on the back. The multibillion-dollar brewer is calling for “a world without borders or barriers.”
Heineken is the latest multinational corporation to join in the push to erode national sovereignty and open all international borders.

Marketing executives at Heineken are hoping their brand is capable of shifting public opinion and convincing consumers around the globe to open their borders to share some beer.

While the marketing campaign appears on the surface to be a misguided attempt to pander to liberals around the world, it is actually in the best interests of the mega-corporation.

Many multinational firms are hoping to open borders in an attempt to drive down wages in developed countries. Heineken could save millions on labor as hordes of unskilled workers flock to steal European jobs.
However, the propaganda campaign will ultimately backfire, as many are planning to boycott the beer brand for promoting their globalist scheme.

Worse yet is the simplicity of the message on the back of the bottle. If you believe Heineken, opening the borders is simply the nice thing to do. According to Heineken, the world is not full of evil terrorists and dogmatic sadists, but potential friends blocked by those pesky borders.

In reality, the world is a very dangerous place. Heineken and the liberals who share their view are utterly ungrateful of the sacrifices of our ancestors.
