Paris is the capital and most populous city of France, with an area of 105 square kilometres (41 square miles) and a population of 2,206,488.[5][6] Since the 17th century, Paris has been one of Europe’s major centres of finance, commerce, fashion, science, music and painting. The Paris Region had a GDP of €681 billion (US$850 billion) in 2016, accounting for 31 per cent of the GDP of France.[7] In 2013–2014, the Paris Region had the third-highest GDP in the world and the largest regional GDP in the EU.
The City of Paris’s administrative limits form an East-West oval centred on the island at its historical heart, the Île de la Cité; this island is near the top of an arc of the river Seine that divides the city into southern Rive Gauche (Left Bank) and northern Rive Droite regions. Paris is the core of a built-up area that extends well beyond its limits: commonly referred to as the agglomération Parisienne, and statistically as a unité urbaine (a measure of urban area), the Paris agglomeration’s 2013 population of 10,601,122 made it the largest urban area in the European Union.[3][not in citation given] City-influenced commuter activity reaches well beyond even this in a statistical aire urbaine de Paris (a measure of metropolitan area), that had a 2013 population of 12,405,426,[8] a number one-fifth the population of France,[9] the largest metropolitan area in the Eurozone.
The city is a major rail, highway, and air-transport hub served by two international airports: Paris-Charles de Gaulle (the second busiest airport in Europe after London Heathrow Airport with 63.8 million passengers in 2014) and Paris-Orly. Opened in 1900, the city’s subway system, the Paris Métro, serves 5.23 million passengers daily,[10] and is the second busiest metro system in Europe after Moscow Metro. Paris’s Gare du Nord is one of the ten busiest railway stations in the world, with 262 million passengers in 2015.[11]
Paris is especially known for its museums and architectural landmarks: the Louvre was the most visited art museum in the world in 2016, with 7.4 million visitors.[12] The Musée d’Orsay and Musée de l’Orangerie are noted for their collections of French Impressionist art, and the Pompidou Centre Musée National d’Art Moderne has the largest collection of modern and contemporary art in Europe. The historical district along the Seine in the city centre is classified as a UNESCO Heritage Site. Popular landmarks in the centre of the city include the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris and the Gothic royal chapel of Sainte-Chapelle, both on the Île de la Cité; the Eiffel Tower, constructed for the Paris Universal Exposition of 1889; the Grand Palais and Petit Palais, built for the Paris Universal Exposition of 1900; the Arc de Triomphe on the Champs-Élysées, and the Basilica of Sacré-Coeur on the hill of Montmartre. Paris received 23 million visitors in 2017,[13] making it the world’s top tourist destination.[14]
The football club Paris Saint-Germain and the rugby union club Stade Français are based in Paris. The 80,000-seat Stade de France, built for the 1998 FIFA World Cup, is located just north of Paris in the neighbouring commune of Saint-Denis. Paris hosts the annual French Open Grand Slam tennis tournament on the red clay of Roland Garros. Paris hosted the Olympic Games in 1900, 1924 and will host the 2024 Summer Olympics. The 1938 and 1998 FIFA World Cups, the 2007 Rugby World Cup, and the 1960, 1984, and 2016 UEFA European Championships were also held in the city and, every July, the Tour de France bicycle race finishes there.

“No ban, no wall, the Trump regime has got to fall,” chanted a group holding signs in front of the Texas Department of Public Safety, where Trump visited the state operations center after a trip to Corpus Christi to assess some of the damage from Harvey, now a tropical storm.
Inside, Trump praised officials for a coordinated response that he said has drawn international admiration.
“The world is watching, and the world is very impressed with what you are doing,” Trump said, adding that he would work with Congress on the “costly proposition” of helping the state.
“Probably there has never been anything so expensive in our country’s history, we’ve never done anything so historic in terms of damage and in terms of ferocity as what we’ve witnessed with Harvey,” Trump said. “It sounds like such an innocent name … but it’s not innocent.”

President Trump has fought from the beginning to fix the United States immigration system and build a border wall to help protect the laws. He has even compromised with the Democrats on DACA. Instead of working with Trump and Republicans to help illegal immigrants, the left has sabotaged every move made in the effort. Democrats claim that Republicans want to separate parents and children on the border but it was former President Barack Obama’s policies that were doing that, particularly referring to pictures released from 2014 when a child was seen in what appeared to be a cage-like structure.
House Republicans have just put forth a “discussion draft” of a sweeping immigration bill that includes a path to citizenship for young immigrants (DACA), $25 billion in border security, which includes advance funds for President Trump’s wall with Mexico and a provision aimed at addressing the crisis of family separations at the border. It blindsided Democrats and delivers Trump a $25 billion border wall win. It has something for everyone. This measure sticks to Trump’s Four Pillars on immigration while attempting to bring together the two major political parties and moderate factions on an issue that has divided people for years. This is just the beginning and there is no guarantee it will succeed, but it’s the first step towards making progress on both granting citizenship while also protecting the border from people who wish to break the law.
Speaker Paul Ryan is calling for a vote by next week, so it can be laid to rest before the midterm elections. He called it a “very good compromise.” Some conservatives called it amnesty. No side will ever get everything they want, so this may be the path forward to get something done for a change. “Our members felt very, very passionate about having votes on policies they care about, and that is what we are doing,” Ryan said earlier Thursday. “So we’re bringing legislation that’s been carefully crafted and negotiated to the floor. We won’t guarantee passage.”
The bill is 293 pages long. It is a very ambitious overhaul of the immigration system. It shifts away from the nation’s longtime preference for family immigration to a new system that prioritizes entry based on merits and skills. It beefs up border security, clamps down on illegal entries and reinforces other immigration laws. The bill addresses concerns over the sharp rise of families being separated at the border. It proposes keeping children in detention with their parents, undoing 2-decade-old rules that limit the time minors can be held in custody. The White House sought the change on this.

With Mueller’s investigation coming to a close any day now, he is worried.
If he can’t find any real evidence of collusion, he will need someone to blame.
And he just blamed a close friend, burning perhaps his last bridge and resulting in the loss of a close ally.
Robert Mueller’s closest ally during his investigation has been the media.
He has even taken actions completely unrelated to Russia collusion and framed it to convince the public it is proof.
Such cases include the arrest of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and the indictment of Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen.
Despite Russia collusion not being the center of either of those situations, the media talks about them as though they are a smoking gun, proving Trump colluded with Russia.
But even that extremely biased reporting isn’t enough for Robert Mueller, who has attacked a number of mainstream media outlets in a set of new court filings.
In the court filing, he specifically attacked the New York Times and the Washington Post, which have both posted puff pieces on Robert Mueller.
So what did these outlets say that made Mueller so upset?
Two stories they singled out in the filing, which were published in the Washington Post and the New York Times had to do with Mueller’s office conducting a “no-knock” raid on Paul Manafort’s home.
Despite the fact that two anonymous sources “close to the investigation” stated that they picked the locks to Manafort’s door instead of announcing their presence before the raid, Mueller’s office denies that occurred.

President Trump suggested a plan that is sure to send illegal aliens scrambling and it provoked an uproar out of the Swamp and the left almost immediately. Frankly, I’m all for it. He’s suggesting that illegal aliens not be given constitutional rights and due process in court. That they should just be immediately deported. I have a few thoughts on this one.
It’s true that the Supreme Court ruled that any person who is on American soil has constitutional rights. But that doesn’t make the ruling correct and personally, I don’t think that is ever what the Founding Fathers intended. They intended our rights to be applied to American citizens. Therefore, I would agree with putting these illegal aliens on a bus and immediately sending them back where they came from. I am not in the majority on this opinion, unfortunately.
Judge Napolitano disagrees with me and says they do have rights. But he also points out there is an easy fix to all this… just don’t let them over the border in the first place. If we had a wall and security, that would be the case. Until we can get there, according to SCOTUS, these people must be adjudicated. This means housing and providing for tens of thousands of them. It is untenable and a horrific mess. Brought to you by Democrats and progressive Republicans alike.
Americans, when they stray into Mexico, are arrested, tortured, beaten and treated abysmally. They do not have the same rights as Mexican citizens do. I’m not saying we should treat illegal aliens as the Mexicans do… we should be fair and humane. But we should not treat them as if they are actual Americans and the president agrees with that. Although yesterday he did concede that it would be more workable to just prevent them from coming across the border and to transport them back to wherever they came from. Trump’s “zero tolerance” immigration policy is the right call here to be used against those who don’t respect the rule of law. I support the move 100 percent.
“President Donald Trump said on Sunday that people who enter the United States illegally should be sent back immediately to where they came from without any judicial process, likening them to invaders who are trying to “break into” the country.
“His proposal drew immediate criticism from legal analysts and immigrant rights advocates who said it would violate the U.S. Constitution’s due process provision, which applies to citizens and non-citizens alike.
“In a series of tweets on Sunday, Trump said: “We cannot allow all of these people to invade our Country. When somebody comes in, we must immediately, with no Judges or Court Cases, bring them back from where they came.”
““Cannot accept all of the people trying to break into our Country. Strong Borders, No Crime!””
They are invaders and they have declared that is what they intend to do. If you listen to the current leading candidate for the presidency in Mexico, he is urging Mexican citizens to go to the U.S. to basically invade and conquer America. They see it as taking back land they claim is theirs. In my book, that is an act of war. I also do not share in the sentiment that illegal alien children should be reunited with their parents. We do not do that when Americans break the law and go to prison. That’s just insane.
I’m not alone in thinking this way. Many legal scholars support my point of view…
