Joe Sweeney Discusses Newspaper That Covers Family Court Crisis
Joe is the Founder & CEO of Court Reform LLC, a San Francisco Bay Area advocacy firm that works to improve the fairness, transparency, and efficiency of the judicial process. The firm’s work has been featured in numerous California mainstream publications including the San Francisco Chronicle, Daily Journal, The Recorder, and by the Center for Investigative Reporting. Joe just formed a new nonprofit called Center for Modern Courts, which will be replacing his LLC and will be working hard to bring more technology and oversight to the family court system.
Joe also has a tutoring company, called East Bay Tutoring, and a small technology startup company, called Azha. He holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry from UC Berkeley and a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Mathematics from Hamline University. Joe lives in San Ramon, California with his four-year-old daughter.
But the exciting project that Joe is here with us today to talk about is a new digital and print newspaper called Ex Parte, which is launching in October and is dedicated to covering the family court crisis.

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – A decorated Marine colonel based in North Carolina has been found guilty of sexually abusing a child.
Local media outlets report 56-year-old Daniel Wilson of Mason, Washington, was found guilty of sexual abuse of a child, six counts of conduct unbecoming of an officer and gentleman and absence without leave on Saturday. He was sentenced Sunday at Camp Lejeune to 5 ½ years of confinement and was dismissed from service.

My daughter and her boyfriend found this cute muscle-head running across six lanes of traffic in Dallas. They knew they had to help him, or he would be hit by a car.
They brought him home, as all the vets were closed at that time. When they did take him to the vet the next morning, they found out that his chip had been erased and he had been reported as dead. His family asked to not be notified if he was found. This brought my daughter to tears.
They even had to rename him, because even his name had been deleted.
These kids wish they could keep this sweet lovable lug, but they already have two other large dogs and three cats.
