Russian volunteer group ‘United Love Animals’ published a video on Tuesday, of the cats and dogs they had rescued from the annual Yulin dog meat festival in Guangzhou on 19 June. The animals were reportedly rescued when the truck they were being transported on, in chicken cages often containing five or more cats and dogs, was stopped en route to the festival. Due to the inhumane conditions, many of the animals had open wounds and died before receiving veterinarian care.
