Iraqi Kurds have voted in an independence referendum, despite opposition from both Baghdad and abroad. Baghdad sees the referendum as another source for destabilization of an already fragile state and doesn’t want to lose the oil-rich region.
Turkey is conducting joint military drills with Iraq, and threatened to block an oil pipeline operated by the Kurds. RT discussed the Iraqi Kurdish referendum with Namo Abdulla from Rudaw, a Kurdistan media network, and former CIA officer Jack Rice.
