French and British fishing boats clashed in the English Channel on Tuesday, pelting stones and ramming each other’s boats in the latest ‘scallop war’ skirmish. French crews are restricted by their country’s scallop fishing season, which is between October 1 & May 15. British boats can dredge for scallops in the waters year-round.
