Second chance: This cutie is walking again after losing all her paws

Malamute dog Ruta had all her paws amputated due to severe frostbite last winter, but has now been given a second chance to walk after a Novosibirsk veterinary clinic saved her life, video filmed on Wednesday shows.

Ruta was found badly wounded with frostbitten paws at the beginning of February on the Chernyshevskaya highway near the town of Mirny in Yakutia.

A passer-by who found Ruta took her to a local vet clinic, and locals then collected around 160,000 roubles (€2,100, $2,400) to send her to be operated in Novosibirsk and to cover the costs of her treatment.

At the clinic Ruta was provided with special socks to protect her legs when moving, and she has recently learned how to walk again.

She is now eagerly looking for an owner who can give her the time she needs to adjust to a normal life.
