  1. The gateway drugs are both. Marijuana sparks your curiosity into using harder drugs and hallucinogens as well, since marijuana falls in a gray area, in-between depressants and hallucinogens. Alcohol disinhibits the user, impairs judgment and increases the chance of trying a new drug.
