A coronavirus patient who is a Chinese official berates a nurse

On the evening of Feb. 20, Zhu Baohua, deputy head of the Preparatory Group of Logistics Service Center of Hubei Market Supervision Bureau, who was a patient at the No. 7 Hospital of Wuhan berated a nurse.

When the footage was exposed on the internet, the Communist Party committee within Hubei Market Supervision Bureau held a meeting and concluded that Zhu, as a party official and a patient, showed no respect or appreciation of medical personnel. He was arrogant, irrational and rude, causing a very bad impact on society, it found. The committee decided to suspend Zhu’s position, investigate his past conduct, and deal with him accordingly.

Date: Feb. 20 (evening)
Location: No. 7 Hospital of Wuhan

Zhu: What do you mean?
Nurse: Do you have any complaints?
Zhu: I asked you to clean up. Why are you unwilling to do it? Why?
Nurse: I have already explained to you.
Zhu: This is your duty. You don’t need to explain. It’s your responsibility. Don’t say anything more. (Nurse: Umm) That’s what I want to say. (Nurse: Umm)
Nurse: Okay, can I talk now?
Zhu: What do you want to say?
Nurse: Just now in ward No. 39…

Zhu: You don’t have any excuses. Your responsibility is to fulfill your duty. That is your work, your responsibility. No need to say anything else. What’s that you want to argue? Explain? What’s there to explain? (Nurse: But…) No need to explain. Go take a look at the restroom. Do you want me to check it instead? Do you need me to tell you? Nothing to explain, as it is your duty. Check the hospital policy. Fancy that you want to explain. What is there to explain? Explain to whom? (Nurse: To you.) You don’t need to explain it to me. You don’t need to explain it to any of the patients here.

Nurse: Go check ward No. 39. The patient at No. 39 just passed away. We were trying to rescue him just now. And then…

Zhu: Then what? Then what? An elderly comrade in the other ward told me, you didn’t, you didn’t clean up the toilet inside that restroom.
Nurse: I have also explained to you that I contacted our supervisor. Originally no one was arranged to do the janitorial work tonight.

Zhu: You said you need to contact your supervisor for things as trivial as that?

Nurse: This is because janitorial work is the duty of another department. They need to communicate with the supervisors. We, as nurses, won’t be able to reach out to janitors directly. I have told you that I have called our supervisor. In a little while, they will..

Zhu: Enough. I won’t ask for more if you have already called your supervisor.

Nurse: Then why did you keep arguing with me?

Zhu: As long as your supervisor will come resolve this issue, that will be fine.
