A store owner at China’s largest luggage market videotaped the dreary situation, saying that all stores there are facing bankruptcy. It is very hard for him to accept this reality.
Videographer:
“Take a look, everyone. This is the largest luggage market in China. It is now 10:30 a.m., there are so few people, not even any commodity delivery guys. Is this the end of brick and mortar stores?”
“Take my store as an example, our expenses are 400-500 yuan ($56-$70) a day, and our sales revenue is a couple of hundred yuan daily. Sometimes we don’t have any sales during the entire day. How can we survive?”
In another video recorded in a jewelry store where there are more staff than customers,
the videographer announced that all the staff appearing in her video are about to be laid off.
“All these lovely ladies will lose their jobs on May 31. After May 31, these beautiful ladies won’t be working here anymore.”
