Victoria Shadow Attorney-General of Australia, Edward O’Donohue stated during an interview when asked about China’s Belt and Road Initiative that “there’s no evidence to show it has benefited Victoria.”

Daniel Andrews, the Premier of Victoria had signed an agreement with China on the Belt and Road Initiative–which goes against the position of the federal government and security agencies in Australia.

U.S. Secreatary of State Mike Pompeo warned that the the United States might cut-off Australia from vital intelligence sharing if the Belt and Road Initiative deal posed a threat to telecommunication security.

O’Donohue opposes the deal with China. He’s also shown support for Hong Kong’s commemorative activities regarding the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre.
