On July 6, the UK government announced sanctions against human rights abusers, including visa bans and assets freezes. It was the first time since leaving the European Union in January that Britain imposed its own sanctions for human-rights violations.
Dominic Raab, the U.K. Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, introduced the long awaited sanctions on human rights violators involved in extra-judicial killings, including political assassinations, torture, degrading treatment, forced labor, and servitude.
In violation of the Sino-British Joint Declaration, the CCP passed the Hong Kong Security Law, which has allowed the international community to see the true nature of the CCP⁠—prompting countries to reposition their bilateral relations with China.
