While the Chinese Communist Party’s propaganda continues to influence some Chinese and even foreigners, it is not having an impact on many of the free-thinking population.

Some outspoken netizens recently gave their government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs a new name—”the Ministry of Damaging Foreign Relations.”

Moreover, one group produced a video spoof to mock the ministry’s spokesperson, who often use all kinds of pretexts to deflect criticism towards the CCP’s policies.

The skit, set in the Song Dynasty, was of a man named Liu Gang who went to the Privy Council to interview for the position of “spokesperson” at the council.

Through the skit, netizens mocked the CCP use of logic to refute condemnations against the regime’s human rights abuses.

On Aug. 4, Zhao Lei, a Wuhan resident, filed a lawsuit against the Wuhan municipal government and the Hubei provincial government for their role in covering up the severity of the CCP virus epidemic that led to her father’s death. This is the fourth lawsuit since Wuhan resident, Zhang Hai, pursued his claim and compensation.

Zhao demands compensation from the local authorities due to their negligence and botched handling of the outbreak. The defendants listed in Zhao’s indictment are Zhou Xian-Wang, who is the legal representative and mayor of the Wuhan municipal government; Wang Xiao-Dong, who is the legal representative and governor of the Hubei Provincial Government; and Wuhan Jiefang community.

The court was asked to confirm that the defendants and the subordinate department, the Health Commission, have acted unlawfully in concealing the severity of the epidemic from the public.

The court was also asked to require the defendants to provide compensation for the death of the plaintiff’s father, the funeral expenses, and emotional distress. The defendants are asked to apologize publicly to the plaintiff in the local newspaper. In addition, the indictment requires a case to be opened against those government employees under the defendants who should also be held responsible for abuse of power and dereliction of duty.

Reports revealed that families of the victims are constantly harassed by the police and community personnel since they sought help from the COVID-19 Claims Legal Advisory Panel. Yang said that many victims’ families are hesitant to file their lawsuits because they need to consider whether they can withstand the pressure and harm brought by standing up for their rights.
