A Texas police officer is recovering from a fracture and other injuries after he was struck by a suspected drunken driver while standing alongside a car during a traffic stop. He survived because the driver first struck the car that was stopped on the side of the road, lessening the blow.
A 34-year-old man was charged with intoxication assault causing serious bodily injury to a police officer. It is not clear whether the second driver was hurt.

The US Air Force (USAF) test-launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) from the US Air Force North Vandenberg base, just days after North Korea reportedly fired an ICBM into the Sea of Japan.
North Korea tested a long-range projectile last Friday, which the US and South Korean militaries have since assessed to be an ICBM. The missile was launched from an area in Mupyong-ni. It reportedly flew 1,000km (621 miles) before landeding in the Sea of Japan.
