During a tour at a factory in Tongren city, Quizhou Province, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said that he saw many idle factories along his route, and that the local government could support businesses by utilizing these factories to further expand production and by “recruiting more brothers and sisters of local farm workers.”
According to Tongren government’s official website, the company that Li inspected on July 6 was Beiyitong Technology. The company is a leading intelligent terminal enterprise introduced from Shenzhen.
The Central News Agency believes that Li’s remarks were tantamount to acknowledging that the production lines of many local manufacturing industries are at a halt, and also reflected that China’s economy has yet to undergo a vigorous boost in the wake of the epidemic.
Li has revealed China’s dire economic situation on different occasions.
China’s GDP contracted by 6.8 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2020, which is the worst in decades. According to a Bloomberg survey of economists in the market, China’s GDP growth is expected to fall below 2 percent in 2020 as the CCP virus pandemic has caused severe production shutdowns and a collapse in the global demand.

Hong Kong has excelled at preventing a mass Coronavirus outbreak amid the worldwide pandemic, but a recent boom of cases is being called Hong Kong’s 3rd #COVID Outbreak Wave.
It coincides with Beijing’s controversial National Security Law implementation and official opening.
“We can see Hong Kong has had a COVID wildfire after the implementation of the National Security Law,” says Kalvin Ho, the VP of ADPL, at a press conference raising concern for the lack of COVID transparency of National Security Law Mainland Chinese Staff now in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong is one of the world’s most densely populated cities, highly connected to mainland China. A daily high-speed railway train runs between Hong Kong and Wuhan, the origin city of the COVID pandemic. Yet, Hong Kong has only had about 1,300 confirmed cases and 7 confirmed COVID deaths.
Hong Kong successfully prevented local case transmission for 3 uninterrupted weeks, until Saturday, July 4th when a 59-year-old man with no recent travel history tested positive for Covid-19.

In recent years, Germany’s policy toward China has mainly been set by the current German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Though she was concerned about human rights issues and the rule of law during her visit to China in May 2018 when she met with Li Wenzu and Xu Yan—wives of Chinese human rights lawyers Wang Quanzhang and Yu Wensheng—she was more concerned with other interests, especially the German-Chinese economic and trade relationships. Therefore, Merkel has adopted a more accepting and forgiving attitude toward the CCP authorities.
In September of 2019, Merkel made her twelfth visit to China during her term. Though the public has reached out to Merkel for help on human rights issues, the number of German-Chinese talks on human rights violations committed by the CCP has decreased. Beijing even canceled talks on human rights between Germany and China.
U.K. and U.S. politicians have condemned the CCP’s push for Hong Kong’s National Security Law, but the German government has not criticized the Chinese Communist Party’s repressive policies and remained silent. As a result, criticism against Merkel’s policy toward China is mounting.
Qin Peng said that during a time when the U.S. and Australia are accusing the CCP of covering up the epidemic, German politicians chose to keep a low profile, and are only concerned about doing business.

“British media reported that the UK government has obtained the newest risk assessment report on Huawei from intelligence agencies and the report may urge Prime Minister Boris Johnson to make major policy changes. Another intelligence report claims that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is secretly rallying and bribing British elites to support Huawei.
The report alleges that these individuals were secretly solicited and bribed by the CCP. The list of elites mentioned includes the Lord Lieutenant of London, Sir Kenneth Olisa, and former chairman of British Telecommunications Group, Sir Mike Rake. Both are currently serving as the non-executive board of directors of Huawei’s subsidiaries in the UK.
The former UK government’s Chief Information Officer, John Suffolk who is now the Global Head of Cyber Security at Huawei, Lord Clement Jones who is a Liberal Democrat Peer and spokesman for the digital economy in the House of Lords and former Huawei adviser, and Sarah Wollaston, former Chairman of the Liaison Committee, are also on the list.
China Research Group (CRG), formed by Tory members of the British parliament, has been promoting the idea that Britain should ban Huawei. The group is led by the chairman of Britain’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Tom Tugendhat who indicated that he welcomes the government to change its mind on Huawei.”

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the Western free world should work together to confront threats imposed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). He revealed that a major international project is being planned to build communication infrastructure for use in the next few hundred years.
Pompeo reiterated that the CCP is not to be trusted, whether in its epidemic cover-up, its persecution of ethnic minorities in Xinjiang, or in the case of Hong Kong.
On the specific moves to confront the CCP, Pompeo announced that the U.S. is planning a major international program to protect the privacy and data security of citizens in the free world.

Commentary 9: On the Unscrupulous Nature of the Chinese Communist Party
The communist movement, which has made a big fanfare for over a century, has brought mankind only war, poverty, brutality, and dictatorship. With the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Eastern European communist parties, this disastrous and outrageous drama finally entered its last stage by the end of the last century. No one, from the ordinary citizens to the General Secretary of the Communist Party, believes in the myth of communism anymore.
The communist regime came into being due to neither “divine mandate” [1] nor democratic election. Today, with its ideology destroyed, the legitimacy of its reign is facing an unprecedented challenge.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is unwilling to leave the historical stage in accordance with the currents of history. Instead, it is using the ruthless methods developed during decades of political campaigns to renew its crazed struggle for legitimacy and to revive its dead mandate.
The CCP’s policies of reform and opening up disguise a desperate intention to maintain its group interest and totalitarian rule. Despite tight restrictions, the economic achievements earned by the hard work of the Chinese people in the past 20 years did not persuade the CCP to put down its butcher knife. Instead, the CCP stole these achievements and used them to validate its rule, making its consistently unprincipled behavior more deceptive and misleading. What is most alarming is that the CCP is going all out to destroy the moral foundation of the entire nation, attempting to turn every Chinese citizen, to various degrees, into a schemer in order to create an environment favorable for the CCP to “advance over time.”
In the historical moment today, it is especially important for us to understand clearly why the CCP acts like a band of scoundrels and to expose its villainous nature, so that the Chinese nation can achieve lasting stability and peace, enter an era free of the CCP as soon as possible, and construct a future of renewed national splendor.

Recently, the skyscraper had a serious water leak problem that affected 51 floors, causing a mess for tenants. According to the building manager, it was due to equipment failure on the 60th floor.
A report from Chinese media stated that, Shanghai’s municipal government spent 14.8 billion yuan ($2.11 billion USD) on this mega project, but the structure was designed to last for only 50 years.
According to several media reports, low occupancy rates had been a serious problem. By 2018, only 30% of the building was rented to domestic companies while international companies were reluctant to sign a lease.
With operating losses soaring, the tower accumulated $1.5 billion in debt.

The British government announced sanctions on China Global Television Network (CGTN), one of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) branches overseas.
The UK’s Office of Communication announced that CGTN violated British law by releasing a video on TV of Peter Humphrey, a British citizen who was forced to confess by the CCP. While in custody, he was forced to plead guilty and CCTV and CGTN released the video in the UK. After Humphrey returned to the UK, he filed a complaint to the UK media regulator over privacy violations in published footage of his court hearing in the UK.
Legal sanctions like fines and revocation of license are being considered. This is the second sanction the Office of Communication has recently put on CGTN.
In recent years, the CCP has been sending Chinese journalists to Taiwan to produce political TV programs with the intention to spread propaganda.
In the past few months, the U.S. government listed 9 Chinese media outlets in the U.S. as “Foreign Missions” and tightened its censorship and control of these media.
The 9 Chinese state-run media companies are: Xinhua News Agency, China Global Television Network, China Radio International, CCTV, China News Service, People’s Daily, and Global Times.
China, ranked fourth from the bottom in terms of freedom of press in the world, ranking above Turkmenistan and North Korea.

The Hong Kong Journalists Association published its 2020 annual report on July 7, and expressed concerns that Beijing’s newly-implemented national security law brings many challenges to Hong Kong’s media agencies.
The Epoch Times recently interviewed the chairperson of the Hong Kong Journalists Association, Chris Yeung, on the current situation of the freedom of press in Hong Kong.

Michael Pack, CEO of the new U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), said in a recent interview with The Washington Times that more assertive news reporting, especially to China, is needed to counter foreign disinformation and to promote American ideals.
Pack believes that broadcasting into China and about China will be a very high priority and a means to counter the CCP’s disinformation campaign in the U.S.
In early June, Pack was confirmed by Congress to take over the USAGM that administers Voice of America, Radio Free Asia, and other broadcasting agencies that receive millions of dollars to send news and information to foreign countries.

On July 6, Hong Kong authorities published more details about the National Security Law imposed by Beijing. The new law strengthens Hong Kong police powers over the internet, including the ability to ask publishers to take down posts, restricting access, or blocking access to the platform that carries it. Any failure to comply could result in a fine or imprisonment.
The police can now also require platform service providers, hosting service providers, and network service providers to block unwanted content, giving them the ability to banish undesirable content originating from abroad.
Many Hong Kongers are concerned about the safety of online speech and afraid of being persecuted for it.
In response, Facebook, Google, Twitter, and Telegram said they would not provide user data to the Hong Kong government.
Before the implementation of the Hong Kong Security Law, tech companies had been operating freely in Hong Kong and internet access had not been affected by restrictions imposed in mainland China.

A the “Global Times”—a Chinese state-run media outlet published a rare article discussing six major preparations that should be taken inside China. Experts indicated that this may mean the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is getting desperate in its escalating confrontation with the United States and the international community.
These six major preparations involve: escalating struggles in worsening U.S.-China relations; declines in foreign demand, leading to broken manufacturing supply chains; CCP virus pandemic control; decoupling of U.S. dollars with Chinese yuan; a global food crisis; and the resurgence of so-called international terrorism.
On June 22, a short version of the article was first published on the Chinese Social Science Net, a website administered by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. This version of the article stated clearly that “the Chinese must be prepared for the return of international anti-terrorism.”
The United States is taking decisive actions to boycott the Chinese Communist Party across the board.

Tensions between China and India are high following the outbreak of a violent border conflict in mid-June. India has taken counter-measures in a number of areas, including military, diplomatic, communications, and investment. India seems to be seeking a full delinking from the CCP.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a surprise visit to Ladakh on July 3, a conflict zone along the China-India border.
On the diplomatic front, India recently expressed its concern over Hong Kong’s situation at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva. This is the first time India has spoken out on the Hong Kong issue.
On June 15, 2020, bloodshed broke out in the Ladakh region along the India-China border, killing 20 Indian soldiers and wounding at least 76 others. So far, the Chinese authorities have not yet released information on the casualties from the Chinese side.
