During a Cabinet meeting at the White House on May 19th, President Trump said the trade deal between the U.S. and China “seems to mean less” to him, after seeing the way they handled the pandemic. He also questioned why the CCP let the virus spread all over the world.
President Trump said: “I feel differently now about that deal than I did three months ago. We will see what all happens, but it’s been a very disappointing situation. Very disappointing thing happened with China because the plague flowed in and that wasn’t supposed to happen and it could have been stopped.”
Trump explained to the reporters that the trade deal with China now seems not that important. Trump said: “It just seems to mean less to me.”
The President also questioned why the regime didn’t allow the U.S. to go into China during the early outbreak to help stem the virus spread. He said he was ‘disappointed’ with China.
Trump said: “So why is it that it was blocked very effectively from leaving that area and going into China? But it went out to the rest of the world, including the United States.”
The talk of blocking borders continued. Trump said they are considering a travel ban from Brazil given the current situation there. He doesn’t want people coming in and infecting Americans.
Trump said: ”Brazil has gone more or less herd, you know what that is, and they’re having problems.” resource
The health ministry of Brazil reported on May 19th that Brazil has over 271,628 confirmed cases, the third most in the world after Russia and the U.S. Scientists believe that Brazil’s testing capabilities are insufficient, so the actual number of infected cases may be 15 to 20 times higher. When asked about lifting travel restrictions between the United States and Europe, Trump said that it will have to wait until the U.S. and Europe are both doing well.

Cheng Wanli, a resident of Zhuhai, China, did not want his daughter to be further brainwashed by the Chinese Communist Party; so he and four family members came to the United States in January. Below is his story.

In China, Cheng Wanli was the manager of regional marketing for a foreign enterprise in Zhuhai. One day, after returning home from a business trip, Cheng was shocked to hear his 6-year-old daughter, who was in kindergarten, singing a “red song” (a song that praises the CCP) for him.

Cheng Wanli said: “There was one day she came home and sang me red songs, songs that glorify the motherland, songs that make people get irrationally excited by praising the CCP. She even drew images of Tiananmen and of Xi Jinping.”

Seeing what was happening to his children and recalling the education system he experienced, from primary school to obtaining a Master’s degree, Mr. Cheng believes that the Chinese Communist Party education system does not nurture talent, it only serves the rulers.

Cheng expressed: “The CCP wants to educate a group of people who are not yet capable of independent thinking and can be easily guided and ruled.” He continued: “It can’t even be called an education, actually, it’s like taking lambs to be slaughtered. By the time I was in graduate school, we were still taking political courses and talking about the superiority of the socialist system, and I believe that the people who wrote the textbooks don’t even believe it themselves.”

Thinking back to the brutal persecution his grandfather and parents suffered under the Chinese Communist Party, he decided to leave China with his children. He didn’t want the next generation to be brainwashed by the red education of the Chinese Communist Party, to receive wrong information, and to lose the ability to tell right from wrong.

Cheng: “I was shocked because the CCP starts to indoctrinate children who are very young and it only gets worse and worse. This fact is actually the one reason that triggered me to take this step as soon as possible.”

In January, Mr. Cheng moved his family to the United States. Cheng believes the real purpose of a normal education is to cultivate reverence for God and life, as well as how to think logically, distinguish right from wrong, and pursue the truth. He believes that removing the influence of the communist system on his family was the best decision he has made in over 30 years.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced on May 11 that Dr. Xiao-Jiang Li, a Chinese professor, was sentenced for concealing his participation in the CCP “Thousand Talents Program” and for not reporting this foreign income in his federal income tax returns over several years.

Another participant of the “Thousand Talents Program,” Simon Ang, a Chinese professor specializing in electrical engineering at the University of Arkansas, was arrested for wire fraud.

Li was sentenced to one year of probation on a felony charge and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $35,089. He was also ordered to file lawful income tax returns for the years 2012 through 2018 within the first two months of his probation and fully cooperate with the IRS to make a complete and accurate determination of all taxes, penalties, and interest that he owed.

According to the documents released by the Department of Justice, starting in 2012 and continuing until 2018, Li, while still working at Emory University doing research on the use of large animal models to investigate Huntington’s disease, among other things, also worked for two Chinese universities: at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and then at Jinan University conducting similar large animal model research. Over those six years, Li earned at least $500,000 in foreign income that he didn’t report on his federal income tax returns.

“China’s Recruitment of Overseas High-Level Talent” program, also called the “Thousand Talents Program” was established by the central government of China (the CCP) in 2008 to recognize and recruit leading international experts in the fields of science, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Experts are hired by many universities and research institutions in China so that the CCP can gain research results.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced on the same day that another participant of the “Thousand Talents Program,” Simon S. Ang, an electrical engineering professor and researcher at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville, was arrested for allegedly committing wire fraud. If convicted, he will face up to 20 years in prison.

Since 2019, the U.S. National Institute of Health has been investigating 55 institutions across the United States, and a number of Chinese scholars have been charged with participating in the “Thousand Talents Program,” leaking U.S. classified information and scientific research results.

The U.S.-China trade war seems to be on the verge of reigniting as a result of the pandemic. On the evening of May 16, President Donald Trump sent out a tweet accusing the CCP of exploiting international organizations like the WHO for profit.

The CCP virus that swept through the world destroyed Trump’s economic miracle overnight. President Trump wrote on Twitter: “Why is it that China, for decades, and with a population much bigger than ours, is paying a tiny fraction of $’s to The World Health Organization, The United Nations and, worst of all, The World Trade Organization, where they are considered a so-called ‘developing country’ and are therefore given massive advantages over The United States, and everyone else? Prior to the Plague floating in from China, our Economy was blowing everybody away, the best of any country, EVER. We will be there again, and soon!”

In addition to the WHO, Trump also mentioned the preferential treatment the WTO gave the CCP, drawing public attention to what the Trump administration might do to China next. Previously, the Trump administration accused the WHO of failing to do its job by releasing false information provided by the CCP and therefore causing a global pandemic. Trump announced last month that the U.S. would suspend funding to the World Health Organization. Responding to reports that the U.S. plans to restore partial funding to WHO, Trump said that reducing 90% of funding previously given to the WHO is just one of the numerous options being considered, and no final decision has yet been made. The United States is the largest funder of the World Health Organization, and contributes between $400 million and $500 million per year to it.

At Wuhan’s Sanmin Community, where several new cases were reported on May 9 and May 10, steel panels were nailed together at the community entrance to lock all residents inside.

The Wuhan Health Commission said that an 89-year-old man in the neighborhood displayed symptoms as early as March, but he wasn’t confirmed to have the virus until May 9. His wife and four other people in the neighborhood tested positive for the virus the following day, although they were all asymptomatic.

On Monday, May 19, U.S. President Donald Trump openly published a letter to Director-General Dr. Tedros of the WHO on Twitter, condemning the various failures of the organization in response to the pandemic. President Trump wrote, “if the WHO does not commit to major substantive improvements within 30 days, I will make my temporary freeze of United States funding to the WHO permanent and reconsider our membership in the organization.”

On the same day, President Trump indicated to reporters that the Chinese Communist Party needs to be responsible for the pandemic and that the World Health Organization is the “puppet of China.”

In the open letter, President Trump stated that “the WHO consistently ignored credible reports of the virus spreading in Wuhan in early December 2019 or even earlier. Despite receiving international recognition for their performance on epidemic control, Taiwan was still not invited to this year’s World Health Assembly (WHA). On this issue, Taiwanese Minister of Health Chen Shih-chung expressed that the WHO needs Taiwan. President Tsai Ing-wen also visited the Central Epidemic Command Center prior to her inauguration and invited the epidemic control team to attend the ceremony.

In a video called “The Taiwan Model” it says: “People who are honest are braver than those who deceive themselves.” Tsai posted the video on Facebook on May 19, documenting the “Taiwan Model” in every part of society: “Many unsung heroes hold fast to their posts, the government and the people stood united to together protect Taiwan.” Though only 5 minutes long, the video has touched many netizens. The “Taiwan Model” also received great international recognition, however, Taiwan was still not invited to the World Health Assembly this year.

Tsai said, “The Secretariat of the WHO, under pressure, once again turned us down in inviting us to attend the WHA. I want to use this opportunity to seriously express my dissent. Taiwan will not give up its participation in international affairs just because it has been suppressed, and we will continue to work hard.”

Minister of Health Chen also added, “The WHO needs us. Many countries in the world, many leaders and representatives have said, it is not about pleading for Taiwan to join the WHO, but that the WHO also needs Taiwan. (Many) people have seen the Taiwan Model’s success,” in reference to U.S. Secretary of Health Alex Azar’s speech at the WHA in support of Taiwan’s participation. Chen said that the health of 23 million people should never be sacrificed for politics, and that despite the fact that Taiwan has not been able to enter the WHA for more than three years, the world has seen Taiwan’s efforts.

Wuhan authorities are currently collecting throat swab samples from 11 million residents in the city in order to identify asymptomatic CCP virus patients. Referred to as the “10-Day Battle” by communist authorities, it implies that one million specimens are to be collected each day.

The first two days of testing were caught on video, showing that local residents complained about the unsanitary conditions. The medical workers who were collecting throat samples did not change or disinfect their gloves between tests, making the residents extremely worried about cross-infections.

In a latest video taken on May 18, residents of Wuhan’s Prosperous Era Community were furious when they noticed that 20 people’s specimens were not individually labelled and were put together into one small bottle to be sent to test centers.

An insider revealed that there are more than 6,000 residents in this community, but the medical staff only brought 600 test kits.

Many Chinese netizens left comments for this video:

One of them said, “That defines the CCP [Chinese Communist Party]. They themselves know this is a political show, and they don’t even bother to pretend to be responsible in this show.”

Another one wrote, “Even the United States cannot perform 11 million tests in ten days. As it is an order from the Chinese central authorities, and the lower levels just need to pretend to do the job. That is so very CCP! Not to mention that other countries who imported the Chinese-made test kits have all found out that the accuracy rate is less than 30 percent.”

“Now I am convinced that the authorities are doing this mass testing in Wuhan because they don’t want to throw out those faulty test kits that other countries returned [to China].”

On Friday, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo published an open letter to the Chinese regime on the subject of Hong Kong. The letter on the State Department website is titled “PRC Proposal to Impose National Security Legislation on Hong Kong.”

It reads:

The United States condemns the People’s Republic of China (PRC) National People’s Congress proposal to unilaterally and arbitrarily impose national security legislation on Hong Kong. The decision to bypass Hong Kong’s well-established legislative processes and ignore the will of the people of Hong Kong would be a death knell for the high degree of autonomy Beijing promised for Hong Kong under the Sino-British Joint Declaration, a UN-filed agreement.

Hong Kong has flourished as a bastion of liberty. The United States strongly urges Beijing to reconsider its disastrous proposal, abide by its international obligations, and respect Hong Kong’s high degree of autonomy, democratic institutions, and civil liberties, which are key to preserving its special status under U.S. law. Any decision impinging on Hong Kong’s autonomy and freedoms as guaranteed under the Sino-British Joint Declaration and the Basic Law would inevitably impact our assessment of One Country, Two Systems and the status of the territory.

We stand with the people of Hong Kong.

On Wednesday, May 20th, President Donald Trump publicly criticized the spokesperson of Foreign Ministry of China on Twitter and condemned the Chinese Communist Party for attempting to transfer the responsibility of the pandemic and for spreading massive disinformation propaganda. President Trump pointed out that it was the incompetence of the Chinese Communist Party that caused the plague, so top CCP officials need to be held responsible for the pandemic.

In addition, the White House published its strategic approach to the People’s Republic of China. The report addresses economic challenges, attacks on U.S. values, and security threats from the Chinese Communist Party. The report indicates that the Trump administration will put even more pressure on the CCP.

On the late evening of May 20th, President Trump tweeted: “China is on a massive disinformation campaign because they are desperate to have Sleepy Joe Biden win the presidential race so they can continue to rip-off the United States, as they have done for decades, until I came along!”

He further sent out three more tweets to refute the comments of the spokesman of Foreign Ministry of China.

One tweet said: “Spokesman speaks stupidly on behalf of China, trying desperately to deflect the pain and carnage that their country spread throughout the world. Its disinformation and propaganda attack on the United States and Europe is a disgrace….”

Another tweet said: “Some wacko in China just released a statement blaming everybody other than China for the Virus which has now killed hundreds of thousands of people. Please explain to this dope that it was the “incompetence of China”, and nothing else, that did this mass Worldwide killing!”

His last tweet said: “….It all comes from the top. They could have easily stopped the plague, but they didn’t!”

President Trump is pushing back the narratives made by the Foreign Ministry spokesman, Zhao Lijian, on May 20th. Zhao Lijian tweeted on May 20th, distorting Trump’s open letter calling for a reform of the World Health Organization and further deflecting responsibility for the pandemic.

After a low level Wuhan official was blamed for failing to contain the CCP virus within his jurisdiction and removed from his post, Wuhan authorities issued an order to have all residents take a diagnostic test. In the past few days, several asymptomatic patients have been identified from various communities.

As a result, in one community, a popular grocery store was closed, and in another community, hundreds of neighbors were quarantined and all residents were forbidden to leave the compound.

In Weibin Fresh, a popular grocery store in Wuhan, an employee was found to be an asymptomatic carrier of the CCP virus. A group of guards in black uniforms blocked the store entrance, holding anti-riot steel forks and shields in their hands.
Customers who were blocked outside felt very sad, because it is the local seniors’ favorite store.

At Wuhan’s Sanmin Community, where several new cases were reported, many police arrived at the entrance to block residents leaving the compound.

Inside the community, residents were lined up to be tested.

The person who posted the video revealed that 13 residents tested positive for COVID-19, and more than 300 have been quarantined.

Overseas Chinese rights activists Yang Zhanqing shared a group chat message from Sanmin Community on May 11, which said:
“There are more than 40 high-rise buildings and about 1,000 households in our community. Now, the entire community is under lockdown again, nearly 5,000 residents are all forbidden to go out. That means, many contractors may lose their jobs.

“In addition, everyone’s health barcode has turned red, which means all of them are identified as high risk individuals,” the message said, referring to the “Alipay health code” app that is being enforced on all Chinese citizens to monitor their health and travel history.

Wuhan, the CCP virus’s epicenter, is launching a citywide nucleic acid test. Authorities announced its plan to test tens of millions of people in Wuhan within 10 days. Critics pointed out that, with an accuracy rate of less than 30%, the new plan is more like a slapdash political ploy, and that it is possible that the CCP intends to use this test to deceive the world again with fabricated data.

According to state media, on May 11, secretary of the Wuhan Municipal Committee Wang Zhonglin demanded expansion in the coverage of nucleic acid testing. On the same day, Wuhan’s district disease control centers received an emergency notice that demanded all units across the city “must come up with a plan within 24 hours,” to implement nucleic acid screenings for all residents in the city within a “10-day period.”
