Several schools in Guizhou Province have reopened recently as the pandemic caused by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, commonly known as novel coronavirus, ravages the globe.

In addition, school authorities have become more aggressive in restricting personal freedom and intruding on privacies. At Bijie City’s Baina Ethnic Middle School, students have to pass a frisk and luggage check when registering for school.

Man: Now number 101. Li Yuhan. Is Li Yuhan No. 102? Li Yuhan? Are you number 102? Wait, hold on.

Mr. Cheng (alias) is the owner of a small business in Hunan province, located south of Wuhan—the virus epicenter. During the pandemic, he has witnessed the Chinese regime making a fortune in every possible way. He says the regime has imposed a mandatory quarantine to cover up the severity of the pandemic inside China.

Death by Starvation

Mr. Cheng: It was officially announced that there were 3,184 deaths in Wuhan. I don’t believe it at all. If it is 30,000 and more, I’ll believe it. I’ll believe it if it’s ten times more.

I have relatives and friends in Wuhan. I understand the situation. Of the people I know, 7 of them have died.

It was under strict control. Two of my sisters are in Wuhan. They can’t go in or out. They have been locked in with door panels and fences. Many elderly were starved to death. Many died of starvation. This data will not be officially recognized.

No one believes in the official data, whether you are associated with the government or not.

Reporter: Are there many families where everyone has died?

Mr. Cheng: Right, right. I personally know there are 7 families that are gone. One of them was a deputy director of Jiangxia District. He died. He was infected on Jan. 6, and died on the 10th. His father and mother were in their 80s. One died on Jan. 12, the other died on Jan. 16. His wife was infected, not dead yet. He was my father’s classmate. They knew each other well.

Small Businesses Being Sucked Dry

Mr. Cheng: There is a logistic company nearby. For us small businesses, if we want to send out goods, we must go through these logistics companies. But they will not allow you to run a business unless you pay a fee of 5,000 to 10,000 yuan ($711.71-$1,423.42). They’re robbing people with the fee. The government is too corrupt, and we can’t do anything about it.

On March 1, I brought my products to the logistics for delivery. They charged 5,000 yuan ($711.71) for one receiving company, $15,000 ($2,135.09) for three receiving companies. The next day, the logistics handed me another note with the stamp from the local novel coronavirus command center. It charges 5,000 yuan ($711.71). Without paying it, you can’t run your business for the entire year.

Reporter: The fee is making it worse for you, isn’t it?

Mr. Cheng: It’s a big blow. The market was already bad last year, now there’s no workers. The key is that you can’t get workers. They can’t come.

Some said that back to work is committing suicide. But not resuming business is a bigger hit on us. The government workers have wages. But small businesses like us are hit the worst.

There is a QR code [on your mobile phone].
It easily reveals with a scan if you are within a 50 kilometer range [of this region] in the past 14-30 days. If it’s green, you are fine. If it’s orange, you have to be isolated at home. If it’s red, you are subject to quarantine. It’s 1,000 yuan ($142.16) a day, including hotel, two tests a day, three meals. That’s 1,000 yuan ($142.16) a day for 14 days. It’s 14,000 yuan ($1988.58) a person. That’s how the government will suck you dry, the poor Chinese.

Reporter: During the isolation, did people pay the fee on their own?

Mr. Cheng: You have to pay. It is 1,000 yuan ($142.16) a day in Zhuzhou.
If you are a worker from Guizhou who takes a bus or train to get here, with a scan of the QR code, it will show red. You’ll be sent to the hotel for quarantine. You won’t dare to come, it’s 14,000 yuan ($1988.58) a person.
We’ll get back to business tomorrow (March 14). But we won’t have other workers to come.

Cover Up the Pandemic

Mr. Cheng:
You can’t send any sensitive information on WeChat. A friend of mine was imprisoned for 15 days because of that. A cousin’s relative was also jailed for 15 days because of messaging regarding the epidemic. My wife’s cousin also was sentenced for a year and a half after texting about several confirmed cases in the village.

There are many people talking about the epidemic on WeChat, Weibo. Officials have acknowledged that more than 1,400 people have been jailed for, as they say, “spreading rumors.” That actually means that the 1,452 people were sentenced for speaking the truth. This is official data, from a report on March 6.

Reporter: Does that mean most people in Wuhan have awakened?

Mr. Cheng: How can they not be awakened, like my sister, sister-in-law, my two sisters in Wuhan. But there’s nothing you can do. Without a gun, rebellion is impractical in China.

A man wearing a face mask, riding a tricycle was stopped by police. The man had a calm demeanor with the officers when they attacked him by spraying pepper spray into his eyes. The man then fought back but was pushed to the floor and handcuffed to be taken away.

This type of behavior by Chinese police is not uncommon, and in fact approved by Communist authorities.

The Chinese Regime permits police officers to act like a gang of thugs by mistreating civilians with abusive tactics like the one seen in the video.

Hello, my name is Tatiana Darzi and this is Epoch Times Exclusive. This is the current state of things inside China today. It’s important that we learn from this and share this footage with others in order to help expose the abuses by the regime in China and hopefully, one day, get them to stop this violent behavior toward civilians.

People under lockdown in Wuhan feel like they’re in prison. Wuhan residents have come to the realization that in order to kill the epidemic, the people have to be locked down until there isn’t anyone left with the virus. This means, in order to kill the epidemic, people in Wuhan might starve to death. The lockdown in Wuhan is not for a designated period of time, it’s for an undetermined period of time. Some residents, such as in this video, believe that the authorities intend to starve the city to death. This is how the Chinese Regime has chosen to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.

Citizens in Wuhan and other cities are not only locked down, but have had their doors welded shut, locking civilians inside their homes.

Contractor Workers of Foxconn Group Did Not Receive Promised Bonuses

Yuzhan Precision Technology, a subsidiary of Foxconn Group in Shenzhen, promised to give its employees a bonus if they returned to work. Workers would be paid an additional 60 yuan ($8.50) per day as a bonus. In addition, employees who did not go home during the Chinese New Year would each receive a bonus of 700 yuan ($99).

Most workers had no income when many companies were shut down to curb the spread of the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, commonly known as the novel coronavirus. In order to get by, thousands of Yuzhan’s contractors returned to work despite the risk of being infected by the CCP virus. But they found out that the company broke its promise of giving out bonuses.

On March 17, these workers went to Labor Personnel Disputed Mediation Center in Longhua Residential District, to seek justice for themselves. In a short while, many police rushed to the center, getting ready to suppress these workers to “maintain social stability.”

Police: Disperse the crowd.

Police: Get down there. Do not stand here blocking the road. Go down. Go down.

The Epoch Times refers to the new coronavirus as the CCP virus. The Chinese Communist Party’s cover-up and mismanagement allowed the virus to spread throughout China and create a global pandemic. The virus started in China last year before spreading around the world.

An overseas Chinese student returned to China due to the outbreak of the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus in the country where she was attending school. She must go through a 14-day quarantine before she is allowed to go home. In this video, she complained that the quarantine site was used for patients infected with the CCP virus, and it looked as if it wasn’t thoroughly cleaned or disinfected.

The Epoch Times refers to the new coronavirus as the CCP virus. The Chinese Communist Party’s cover-up and mismanagement allowed the virus to spread throughout China and create a global pandemic. The virus started in China last year before spreading around the world.

Female student:
Just before we arrived at this site, there were people who stayed here because they were infected with the CCP virus.
It was used for their rehabilitation and quarantine.
I am not sure how these rooms were cleaned after they left.
I will show you around with this video, then you may understand why I am scared, and even worried that I could get infected staying here.
Hangers used by the patients are hanging there like this.
And I won’t talk about this wall. It could be worse. After all, the room is just dingy.
The dust on the window glass doesn’t seem to come off.
Actually, the noise is also acceptable to me.
But some people in the chat group say they can’t stand it.
They can’t fall asleep at night because it is right next to the Third Ring Road.
The building is hardly soundproof, so it makes no difference whether to open the windows or not.
Either way, it is especially noisy.
These quilts must have been used by previous patients.
Look. All these orange peels are still there.
When I first came in, there was a lot of garbage on the floor.
Hair and even pills were all over the floor.
I borrowed a broom and a mop to clean it up a bit.
Maybe because the mop is shared with others that there’s hair all over it.

The commercial district of Humen town in Dongguan city, Guangdong province is a large-scale wholesale and retail center, lined with shops belonging to middle to high-end fashion brands. The daily flow of customers reaches into the tens of thousands.

The CCP virus outbreak has devastated China’s economy. Stores and factories closed in order to prevent the virus from spreading. Many domestic businesses cannot operate and have no revenue. They asked for a reduction in rent, as they are unable to afford it.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) deployed police to “take care” of such merchants. Across the country, police destroyed such businesses. The potential for social unrest has thus emerged.

Riot police recently appeared in Humen town.

Woman: Well, tell him to be careful.

Man: Ah, big army, a big army of police are coming.

Woman: We’re going to rebel. We’re going to rebel.

Man: Don’t talk to him.

Woman: Yeah, just don’t talk to him. It’s no good talking to him.

Hello, my name is Tatiana Darzi and welcome to Epoch Times Exclusive.

This man says his brother was brutally murdered by police simply because he left his home to hang out with friends after being quarantined. The man suffered significant intracranial hemorrhage and died the next day. However, his death was labeled as “suspected case of coronavirus”

It is very common for CCP police to violently handle minor offenses causing horrific injuries and even death.

Relatives dying, prices soaring, an economic bubble… The woman in the video is clearly frustrated at the party, and she’s not alone.

You’ve probably heard that the CCP has brought prosperity and advancement to its people and that China is a thriving communist nation with content citizens…

Thankfully our phones are equipped with cameras that can instantly record and upload videos to the web, where our thoughts and the true state of society can be shared with the rest of the world.

Business operations must continue and workers were told to return to work even though the outbreak of the coronavirus is still in full-swing. But chaos at the management level caused confusion for companies not listed to resume operations. Unlisted companies had also asked workers to return to work and as a result, local authorities were called in to stop these people from doing so. This sort of chaotic mismanagement is extremely unfair to everyone, especially for those who have traveled long distances to get there.

Terminal 3-D of Beijing Capital International Airport was jam-packed on March 16 with Chinese passengers returning from countries hard hit by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, commonly known as novel coronavirus. Beijing authorities had previously announced that returnees from overseas would be quarantined for 14 days at their own expense.

Woman in the background: Right now, the airport staff want passengers to go down and get their luggage as soon as possible, but the situation is out of control. There are too many people. There are too many people down there. We wanted to control them by dividing them into groups of 10 or 20 at a time, but it was impossible. The passengers tried to all rush down at once, and now I’m in line to get on this bus.

But the airport bus is like this, it doesn’t leave immediately. It’s impossible for us all to get on right away. And it means that the passenger backlog in the airport lobby is still very large.

The airport actually stopped the elevators to prevent a passengers stampede, but there is no way to get the passengers down one group at a time. The staff is also explaining the situation to the passengers, but there are just so many passengers, and now they’re all stuck here.

Wuhan Residents Analyze Chinese Communist Party’s Brainwashing Tactics

Get the latest updates as well as exclusive reporting and first-hand videos about the Coronavirus from The Epoch Times website.
——————
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) begins brainwashing people in kindergarten. They are taught to believe that anyone who criticizes the CCP is their enemy, and seeks to control China. Whenever anyone in the international community doesn’t agree with the CCP, they will brand them as anti-China, and then proceed to brainwash the Chinese people into believing the new narrative. There are many Chinese people who can be easily tricked into believing this, but there are also discerning people.

Today we interviewed two of them from Wuhan: Mr. Chen Yang and Ms. Liu.

Chen Yang: There isn’t any freedom to choose under the CCP because the TVs and newspapers continuously brainwash their audience. I was also brainwashed under its education. The CCP states it has laws and human rights, and I used to believe they were protecting my rights and interests under the law. So I filed a lawsuit to protect my rights, but as a result, the CCP sent me to a mental hospital under the guise of paranoid psychosis. This is how the CCP rules China. If you believe the CCP and file a report or appeal against the CCP, it will label you as having a mental illness. If you don’t blindly follow its rule, it will manipulate the laws to persecute you. There’s no way to rationally deal with the CCP.

For example, my father is a communist. He unquestionably believes in the Party’s lies. He doesn’t have original thought or discernment and instead blindly goes along with the Party. If the Party were to lead him into a pit, he would jump into it. This time my father became infected with the CCP virus. With his faith in the Party, he was looking for a CCP hospital but medical staff told him there were no beds available and ordered him to go home and wait. So, my father went home and waited. He waited over 10 days and now he’s dying, and to make matters worse, they kept telling us to go to another hospital while he was already dying.

I reached out to overseas media to help expose the evilness of the CCP and its persecution of its own people. After the CCP found out they were condemned for persecuting their own people, they then let my father be admitted to a hospital. However, after my father was admitted to the hospital, the CCP resumed its brainwashing tactics again: “Believe in the Communist Party!” Its brainwashing does have an effect on ignorant people. As for people like myself, who were once deceived by it, we can no longer be deceived by it. If you believe in the Party, you’re condemning yourself to death. It’s evil. Only by distancing yourself from the CCP and escaping the CCP’s brainwashing tactics, can you get your life back. If you believe in the CCP, it will persecute your families even after you die. The Chinese Communist Party is an evil organization.

Ms. Liu: The regime’s purpose is to cover up the facts and disguise the truth to deceive, persecute, and brainwash people. I’ve seen a lot of people on WeChat groups who have been duped. They’re still praising the CCP. They believe it’s patriotism. Ever since the outbreak until now, I’ve been very concerned about my friends and family in Wuhan and Hubei. I’ve patiently disclosed the truth to them, but they refuse to listen. They feel I’ve offended them. They’ve blocked me and don’t even speak to me. I’m being ignored. They believe I’m the one who’s been deceived by anti-communist propaganda and say that I speak nonsense. I tried to persuade them to not return to work. As long as the two annual CCP meetings in Beijing are not taking place, it’s best not to return to work, but some people refuse to listen. They want to return to work because otherwise they’ll starve to death. I also patiently spoke to them, informing them that even if there’s no money, they should try to stay alive. Don’t return to work. If one person becomes infected, then their entire family is doomed. Chinese state media is spreading propaganda that the Americans caused this disaster [the spread of the virus.] They listen to the hate speech instigated by the regime. They hate the United States and they hate [so-called] foreign anti-China forces.

The origin of the virus is still unclear. Yet the Communist Party is asking its people to be grateful for the regime. What should we be grateful for? For killing so many people? For allowing so many innocent people to die by suicide?

Chinese Police Tries To Stop Netizens From Spreading the Truth About the CCP Pandemic

Hi, my name is Tatiana Darzi and welcome to Epoch Times Exclusive.

I’d like to share a couple of videos recently trending online regarding the situation in China with the novel coronavirus.

https:http://www.youtube.comwatch?v=X7hP2jmGGVM
A video taken in Guangdong Province shows police standing in front of someone’s doorway, demanding the residents to not spread information about the novel Coronavirus online. The Chinese regime doesn’t want the truth to be spread to the rest of the world. So, it sends the police force to censor and intimidate civilians speaking out about this.

https:http://www.youtube.comwatch?v=6R1PMiUFDcE
25-year-old, Li Zehua, is a former TV host with Chinese State Television, CCTV.

He recorded himself being chased by an intelligence officer who was driving a vehicle that wasn’t a police car. He later live streamed himself informing the officers and the viewers that he refuses to be silenced by the CCP and is determined to “speak the truth”. He goes on to explain that speaking the truth doesn’t mean he wants to overthrow the government.

He states he’s been a good citizen and hasn’t broken any laws, he also mentions that the young people in China “know nothing about the truth and the real history” of their country.

Soon after, the police are seen walking into his apartment to arrest him. No one has heard from him since February 26.

The CCP actively cracks down on freedom of speech, and it isn’t unusual for dissidents to get arrested and in many cases, never to be heard from again.

https:http://www.youtube.comwatch?v=ibvURrLbRd4
A man was returning to China when two women briefly stopped him to inform him of the coronavirus outbreak. The women tell him that what CCTV has published is fake and that the epidemic has become widespread in China. He doesn’t seem to be fazed by this. He says that he trusts what the Chinese State Media publishes, and then leaves.

The amount of disinformation by the Chinese Communist Party is extremely dangerous to the people living in China and for the rest of us living abroad. If it were up to the CCP, they would’ve never told us about the outbreak. But since the news was spreading about as fast as the virus had spread, they had no other choice but to admit to it.

It’s thanks to those brave people who do care about the wellbeing of others, who dared to inform us about the novel coronavirus, and fully understand that by doing so, the CCP will retaliate against them.

The protesters gave out material that read: “Postpone and Reduce Rent. Fight The Virus Outbreak.” (延期減租,共抗疫情)

People in the apartment complex of Gangdu Garden, Qingshan District of Wuhan were outraged by garbage trucks delivering meat and vegetables. Residents of Jiangan District also found out that their pork and vegetables were being delivered by ambulances.

Interview #1:
Reporter vs. Ms. Xu, Qingshan District, Wuhan

Ms. Xu from Qingshan District told The Epoch Times that transportation of food in garbage trucks does not only happen in Wuhan. It also happened in Xiaogan City, Hubei, a long time ago.

Reporter: Why would they use a garbage truck?

Ms. Xu: It’s to save money. There are not enough drivers. There are not enough volunteer drivers. Because Wuhan is a severe epidemic area. They need to be willing (to work). You can’t force people to work. Now drivers are volunteers, but there are not enough. Many drivers are infected, and it takes courage for them to come out. It’s also to save money. The merchant wants to save money. A regular truck delivery cost is very high. These are the two reasons. It’s not unilateral.

Reporter: How long have they been delivering like this?

Ms. Xu: I don’t know. It was reported very early, but not in Wuhan. It was reported in other cities in Hubei, such as Xiaogan. In Wuhan, this was just reported recently. This is unacceptable. I’d rather not have it delivered. This whole thing about meat and vegetables being distributed by the officials is absurd. Our buying group will meet the demand. It’s the patients, the lonely elderly, people with no online access, people who can’t go out who need the service. We healthy people can absolutely resolve it by group buying. What we need is for the government to subsidize the cost. Normally, we will buy it by ourselves, we have done it very well with our own group buying. We don’t need them to do the group purchasing or delivery. Their involvement will only turn into a power struggle and unjust competition.

Reporter: So the group buying was organized by yourselves?

Ms. Xu: The business owners (organized it). We organized the group buying ourselves, and the community distributed the meat and vegetables. As for the delivery by the local government, you heard that residents shouted it was “fake” last time, right? There was none delivered. After the shouting, they decided to distribute them.

Reporter: Did this happen after people shouted “fake, fake” (when the vice premier visited Wuhan)?

Ms. Xu: Yes, yes.

Interview #2
Reporter vs. Mr. Li, Qingshan District, Wuhan

Reporter: Why would they come up with this type of vehicle for food delivery?

Mr. Li: Actually, it didn’t happen only in one place, but also in other places in Wuhan. Why would they use garbage trucks? I don’t know who made this decision. I guess there are two reasons. Firstly, since everyone is locked at home the traffic is closed. The garbage truck has to collect garbage every day. Maybe it’s more convenient for them to go to the community? Secondly, there are no other resources because of the lockdown. It is really a messy thing.

Reporter: How long has this delivery been? Since yesterday?

Mr. Li: Some time ago. Some of my other Wuhan friends said that they have seen garbage trucks delivering vegetables, not just meat. They did not dare to expose this to defend their own rights. Frankly, if you don’t report it or expose it, how can there be any improvement?

Reporter: Did the driver deliver your orders or government subsidized supplies?

Mr. Li: This is a one-time distribution by the government. It’s relief food given when Xi came. Last time, when (Vice Premiere) Sun Chunlan visited Qingshan, residents shouted “it’s fake, it’s all fake.” So they decided to deliver free meat and vegetables to comfort local residents. This is the batch. After this incident was exposed, some Wuhan citizens posted on the Internet that they saw vegetables delivered in garbage trucks some time ago. But they did not take photos or videos, or post it online. The decision they have made is a (vulgar) thing.

Hong Kong’s Miracle During the Pandemic: “Heaven Disintegrates the CCP”

Get the latest updates as well as exclusive reporting and first-hand videos about the CCP Virus from The Epoch Times website.

——————
The CCP Virus is spreading all over the world. Hong Kong, with close proximity to mainland China, has a surprisingly mild outbreak.

When SARS broke out in 2002 to 2003, the Chinese regime claimed that there were 5,327 cases of infection and 349 deaths in mainland China. At the time, there were 1,755 infections in Hong Kong and 299 deaths.

The transmission rate of the CCP Virus is higher than that of SARS. And the number of mainland Chinese tourists in Hong Kong is many times higher today than 17 years ago.

Given such context, Hong Kong was predicted to have the biggest outbreak outside of mainland China. But to date, there are 162 infections and four deaths in Hong Kong.

Of the 162 people infected, many came from the mainland. Of the four dead, three are elderly (2 males and 1 female) between 70 to 80 years-old.

Compared to the past, there have been less mainland Chinese visiting Hong Kong, due to recent pro-democracy protests. But according to statistics from the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the number of mainland Chinese tourists is still very large. There were roughly 93,000 mainland tourists in August, 80,000 in September, 83,000 in October, 64,000 in November, and 79,900 in December. In addition, there are nearly 500,000 Hongkongers working in the mainland. They often travel to and from the mainland and could potentially transmit the virus.

In particular, Hong Kong has direct high-speed trains to and from Wuhan. The outbreak across the border, in the cities of Shenzhen and Guangzhou, are also relatively serious. The risk of Hong Kong people becoming infected is very high.

Let’s compare Hong Kong’s and Taiwan’s interactions with China. 77 people were confirmed with the CCP Virus in Taiwan. Taiwan has about 100,000 mainland tourists per month, while Hong Kong has about 100,000 daily. But the number of people infected in Hong Kong is 162, which is only 2.1 times that of Taiwan’s total infections.

Taiwan has been praised for its swift and effective methods at preventing the CCP Virus from spreading.

Comparing with the United States, the number of mainland Chinese tourists to the United States in 2019 was about 5,100 people per day. That equates to roughly 20 times less than mainland visitors to Hong Kong, but the number of confirmed cases in Hong Kong is far below the U.S. total of 8,320 confirmed cases.

Hongkongers: The Heavens Will Disintegrate the Chinese Communist Party

The Hong Kong government’s virus containment efforts were heavily criticized by Hongkongers. The government refused to close all its border crossings with mainland China, despite people’s protests. Few preventative measures were put in place. What allowed Hong Kong to remain relatively unscathed?

Last November, intense clashes broke out between police and student protesters at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, as the former besieged the campus with rounds and rounds of tear gas. As protesters confronted police at the No. 2 bridge of the university, the students held up a banner that read, “the heavens will disintegrate the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).”

In the past six months, millions of Hong Kong people took to the streets to protest against the Chinese regime, triggered by an extradition bill that proposed allowing individuals to be transferred to mainland China for criminal trial. Hongkongers believed this was the final straw in the Chinese regime’s erosion of their freedoms and basic rights. They stood at the forefront of the battle against authoritarianism, with their slogans “Free Hong Kong, Revolution Now.”

During the anti-extradition-bill movement, signs with the message, “the heavens will disintegrate the CCP” could be seen throughout all the streets and alleys in Hong Kong. The righteousness of Hong Kong people helped them to evade today’s calamity.

An online article recently became popular among Hong Kong netizens. It explained:

Because of the anti-extradition-bill movement, people no longer trust the Hong Kong government.
During the movement, people self-initiated efforts to help each other instead of relying on the government. As a result, during the CCP Virus outbreak, people formed aid networks, practiced good hygiene, and avoided public gatherings in an effort to contain the virus’s spread.

The painful experience of SARS also taught Hong Kong people how to “react quickly” and secure appropriate medical supplies.

Hong Kong thus became one of the least affected regions during this global pandemic. In this sense, it appears that straying away from communism is the safest bet.

Date: On the evening of March 13, 2020

The hospitals in lockdown Wuhan are said to be crowded and have no beds to accommodate patients. Reluctantly, a hospital worker has to turn a patient away.

Family member of the patient: Help the patient. This is a big hospital. You can’t just turn us away without checking her.

Man in yellow hazmat suit: I want you to go to the next hospital.

Family member of the patient: There is no next hospital. I am here. I need your help. I thank you.

Man in yellow hazmat suit: Help? Call the mayor for help.

Family member of the patient: I will not ask the mayor, I will ask you.

Man in yellow hazmat suit: I have no bed.

Family member of the patient: I don’t need a bed. I need a doctor. Are you a doctor?

Man in yellow hazmat suit: There is no way. Someone has just died, who hasn’t been helped yet.

Man in yellow hazmat suit: There is not even an empty seat in the ER.

Ambulance worker in white hazmat suit: We have just got here from Hospital 161.

Family member of the patient: No seat, I just need a stall. Let us see the doctor. She might just have a heart problem, that’s your hospital’s specialty. Have a doctor check on her. She could just have a heart attack.

(The ambulance worker in white hazmat suit tries to persuade the man in the yellow hazmat suit.)

Man in yellow hazmat suit: It’s not so simple. What if she needs a rescue? You’ll rescue her?

Ambulance worker in white hazmat suit: We just came from Hospital 161.

Man in yellow hazmat suit/Family member of the patient: We have already gone to a couple of hospitals.

Family member of the patient: Those are places for rescuing lives.

Man in yellow hazmat suit: Can’t do. Can’t do.

Family member of the patient: You are the doctor, alright?

Man in yellow hazmat suit: Even if I were the doctor, I couldn’t solve this problem. Don’t waste time here.

Man B in white hazmat suit: Call the mayor’s hotline.

Man C in white hazmat suit: None of the hospitals will accept patients. It’s unbearable to the patients.

First-aid Ambulance worker in black outfit tells the ambulance workers: No talk, no talk, no talk, don’t say anything.

Hebei Couple Encounters Bureaucratic Hurdle

Video #1:

The city of Tianmen in Hubei Province was locked down the day after Wuhan was put under quarantine. Mr. and Mrs. Liu are both from Hebei. They have been trapped in Tianmen due to stringent travel rules that make it difficult for them to leave the city.

Mr. Liu: Tianmen requires a special permit for traveling outside Hubei. Those who need to leave the province must first obtain proof of their destination from the local authorities there. People have complained about this rule on social media. Local governments in other provinces don’t require this type of documentation. My wife, for example, has a back-to-work notice from the local health department. She’s needed during the epidemic to monitor body temperature at checkpoints. But she’s not allowed to leave Tianmen unless she can provide documentation from the local authorities. This travel permit stuff has become a hurdle for us. This procedure is unjustified.

The rules are very strict for us in the city, even dogs can’t go out of the compounds. Local officials know this. We have been trapped here for so long.

Video #2:
Ms. Li grew up in Xinjiang. She went to Tianmen from Kunshan, Jiangsu province to handle family affairs prior to the Chinese New Year. She is now trapped in Tianmen. Her mother has been on medication for stroke and the supply is running low. Ms. Li is stressed out because she has no source of income and has various loans to pay off.

Ms. Li: Healthy people are stranded in Hubei, not being able to go back to where they should be. This is a huge problem.

What problem? We have been stranded for more than 40 days. Many of us have no source of income and we racked up debt that we can’t pay off. We’re under great pressure. I hope the government can differentiate the healthy people from the infected. There are many solutions. Why do we have to be trapped for so long? All people are trapped here for so long. It is mind boggling.

Honestly, I tweeted because I can’t stand it anymore. I felt there were other people feeling hopeless because of issues related to the epidemic. There were people talking about their problems in the chat room. I have not really seen anyone committing suicide. But there were people talking about it.

I’m a food blogger on Weibo. I make tutorials. Now I’m stuck here, there is no way to work. In fact, our company is relatively alright. But they won’t like it if I post things about the epidemic on my Weibo account. So I use my personal account to post question about the epidemic. But I hope more people can see it.

I’m constantly calling 12345 (mayor’s hotline), both Hubei and Jiangsu. I want to go back to Jiangsu but I have to pay a quarantine fee. I am very clear about the fee now. In Shanghai, it is 150 yuan ($21.57) a day, 340 yuan ($48.90) in Kunshan, Jiangsu, and about 1000 yuan ($143.84) in Zhejiang. The high quarantine fees makes me wonder if the government is just taking advantage of the people.

What was the initial idea behind it? The local authorities could have just separated the healthy people from those who are infected by the virus. But this countermeasure is too expensive. Many people cannot afford it. There’s no money to be made by staying at home. You know what it means.

This year I came back for setting the tombstone for my father. My mother wanted to return to Xinjiang on February 14, but is also trapped here. My mother is also struggling. She is on medication for early stages of stroke. Once the medicine is gone, the consequences are unthinkable. This is a serious issue.

Now I just want to say that Hubei and Wuhan cannot be judged by one standard. I am not talking about regional discrimination. Wuhan is a severely affected area. It should not be hard if the government can gradually lift the quarantine according to the risk level.

In terms of Tianmen alone, no one is allowed to leave the city. You must go to the petition bureau and go through some formalities to get permission to leave. But local authorities would try to dissuade you. Plus, you risk getting infected while waiting in line and being in close contact with other people at the petition bureau. Tianmen’s epidemic prevention headquarters will not let you leave. They won’t let us leave until there are documents from the province.
