Sunday night’s Supermoon, aka the ‘Full Cold Moon,’ is the first of three such consecutive lunar events in which our satellite will appear bigger and brighter.
A supermoon occurs when the moon’s orbit comes closest to the Earth, a point known as the perigee, when it appears up to 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than the furthest point away, known as the apogee (roughly 30,000 miles (50,000 km) from the Earth).
The statement came after Yonhap News reported that six U.S. Raptor stealth fighters planes arrived in South Korea on Saturday for a joint air drill named “Vigilant Ace 18” scheduled for Dec. 4 to 8.

Residents of southern Arizona are baffled by mysterious booms being felt and heard across the southern part of the state, which have caused the ground to shake and pets to tremble. No one seems to have an explanation for the weird occurrences.
The spooky events happened two nights in a row – on Tuesday between 8pm and 8:30pm, and on Wednesday just after 3pm, according to Tucson News Now. New Zealand could be potentially hit by a massive magnitude 9.0 earthquake followed by a “towering” tsunami, scientists warn. According to the researchers, a 2016 quake that hit the area reawakened a hazardous fault that was believed to be dormant.
The Hikurangi subduction zone – a deep trench in the Earth’s crust running along the eastern shore of New Zealand’s North Island – is now active and could trigger magnitude 8.5 earthquakes, which would be far more devastating that the one that hit the islands in 2016, a group of scientists from the GNS research institute warn. The earthquakes are also likely to be followed by tsunamis that could reach New Zealand’s coast within mere minutes, the geologists add.
The National Rifle Association has called the concealed carry bill, which would make it easier for gun owners to keep their firearms hidden when crossing state lines, its “highest legislative priority in Congress.” Despite concerns raised by Democrats about states’ rights and domestic violence, the Republican-controlled Congress has pushed the proposal one step closer to becoming law.

Moscow lost contact with a satellite after its launch from Russia’s far east, the state space corporation said Tuesday.
A Soyuz-2.1b rocket carrying several satellites lifted off from Vostochny Cosmodrome at 08.41 a.m. Moscow time (0541GMT), Roscosmos said in a statement.
