I have seen the devastation of war. I have witnessed the final moments of young men in distant lands, far from all they love and hold dear. I have watched my daughter deploy to combat in Afghanistan and soon might my son. I recognize the personal courage required to make difficult decisions. I know the cost of war. More importantly, I know the price of freedom.
Monday night President Trump announced to the Nation the recommitment of America’s will, military, and diplomatic might to the fight in Afghanistan. He signaled to all that this Nation will not back away from hard sacrifice to ensure our safety. Undoubtedly, you will hear the hue and cry from the President’s detractors recalling a need to withdraw from Afghanistan and their rallying cries of failed campaign promises and abandonment of America First. Do not listen to them.
Make no mistake, I have been with the President since nearly the beginning, well before he was the Republican Presidential nominee. I wrote on the campaign trail that he was the leader who will take us forward and I still deeply believe that today. In the less than 24 hours since President’s Trump speech, there have been dozens of articles and opinion pieces touting that this is more of the same. They could not be more mistaken. They are overlooking the most important difference: President Donald J. Trump is the Commander in Chief.
Our President’s decision reflects an understanding that the promise to Make America Great Again must include cleaning up the mess left behind in Afghanistan from the fits and starts of the past 15 years. The President does not have the luxury of starting from nothing, of beginning from scratch. There is no such thing as a clean slate. However, there is now the opportunity for fresh perspectives, new ideas and the outsider advantage.
Over the past several months, I have been privileged to see and listen as the President has taken the time for counsel and to weigh different options for Afghanistan and the region. He has heard from his commanders in the field and, yes, he has listened to his Generals. I have heard him ask the tough questions and demand accountability from those responsible for leading our men and women in harm’s way. He has listened to strong recommendations from his National Security team and has engaged them in deep and thoughtful discussions. He has demanded a way forward placing primacy on the safety of America and her citizens.
From the beginning, President Trump has sworn to put America First. Monday, he outlined a course that places us closer to that vision than ever before. The path forward is not more of the same. Through strength we seek a negotiated political settlement that protects our interests. We do not seek territorial conquest or occupation. We do not intend to create a government after our own image. We will not set arbitrary timelines. We will use our integrated military, political, and economic efforts to promote stability in the region. We will demand that nations ultimately provide for their own security. Those that harbor terrorist networks must eliminate them.
We will fight those that threaten us wherever they may be. We will fight them at night, in the day, in their supposed sanctuaries. We will give them no rest nor will we grow weary. While our brave men and women in uniform are waging battle on the ground and from the air, President Trump will be using every diplomatic and economic tool at his disposal to bring about an end state that does not allow another country to become a breeding ground for radical Islamic terrorism.
The President has made the necessary hard decision. It is what all of us, as Americans, expect from our Commander in Chief. President Trump has demonstrated the courage to lead, the confidence in our military to deliver results, the trust in our diplomats to bring peace, and faith in our citizens’ patience to see our Nation to victory.

In May 2009 President Obama dismissed our 21st annual National Day of Prayer ceremony at the White House under the ruse of “not wanting to offend anyone”
On Sept. 25, 2009, a Muslim Prayer Day was held on the west front of the U.S. Capitol Building, the site where U.S. Presidents have been inaugurated since 1981. There were over 50,000 Muslims in D.C. that day President Obama dismissed our national day of prayer and now it is okay for an event at our capitol for Islamists?

Imam Sheikh Sa’ad Musse Roble, president of the World Peace Organization in Minneapolis, Minn. recited a “verse from the Quran” following remarks by Obama administration officials and Democrat members of Congress.
Former President Obama encouraged schools to teach the Quran for extra credit, while at the same time, we cannot even talk about the Bible, God, pray, or salute the American Flag.
The direction this country was headed should strike fear in the heart of every Christian.
How refreshing and beautiful our First Lady Melania Trump was in Melbourne, Florida on February 18, 2017. Instead of the normal “pumping up” of the crowd, Melania chose to start the rally off with the Lord’s Prayer. It sounded more like the start of a football game after the National Anthem rather than what we would expect to hear after a prayer.
Make a “joyful noise unto the LORD thy GOD”! The “sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity” of Madeline Murray O’Hair and ACLU efforts in 1962, removed School Prayer from the U.S. public education system by slowly changing the meaning of the First Amendment through a number of court cases that should be confronted and reversed.

He noted in addition to healing, structured water could potentially be useful in exploring nuclear fusion, reclaiming polluted areas, and developing “super sensors”– instantaneous signals that can be sent out into the galaxy.

The governor of Oregon signed Democrat and even Republican supported gun control legislation that would allow authorities to strip firearms from law-abiding citizens.
The bill, signed Wednesday by Gov. Kate Brown, would permit state authorities to seize the firearms of anyone who has been determined as a threat to themselves or others – without any judicial process at all. (Any one could state ANY thing and it could be used to justify taking one’s firearms.)
The ‘intent’ (?!) is to reduce the number of gun-related suicides which has been on the rise recently in the state, but Second Amendment advocates were incensed.
The legislation supposedly closes two “loopholes” in the state’s gun laws. Currently, the state police have three days to figure out if a potential gun buyer has cleared a background check before the sale must go through. Now, that waiting period can extend indefinitely.
Another section would ban firearm possession – or allow confiscation – from anyone who has been the subject of a restraining order filed by a significant other.
The Oregon Firearms Federation has criticized the new law, saying it would simply harass legitimate gun owners. The group’s director, Kevin Starrett, said allowing police to indefinitely delay a gun purchase would “eliminate the one small safeguard that protects a person’s right to have the means to protect themselves.”
Brown, a Demorat, signed the bill without comment on Wednesday, but in remarks to lawmakers, she said the law is the “best way that a person who is at risk of harming themselves or others is identified, while still ensuring their rights are protected by a court review.”
Of course, this is nonsense. You can’t take away someone’s rights, then force them to go to court after the fact to have them restored. Due process of law involves having a hearing and trial before one’s rights are taken away, not after.
The law does contain a provision prohibiting filing a false restraining order, Guns.com reports. Those filing a false restraining order would be subject to up to a year in prison or a fine of $6,250.
“By allowing a law enforcement officer, family member, or household member to seek the new law, it would allow people who are not mental health professionals, who may be mistaken and who may only have minimal contact with the respondent, to file a petition with the court and testify on the respondent’s state of mind,” the NRA’s legislative lobby arm said.
Last month, the dangers of this kind of law are rather ominous:
When a person is arrested for a crime, they are informed of the crime they are being charged with and informed of the rights that they have during the arrest process. They are temporarily held in a jail cell until they have a hearing in front of a judge. The judge can then grant bail until a trial date is set. That person’s rights are not completely restricted unless and until a verdict of guilty is reached by a jury.
While being arrested for a crime is not a fun situation, you are not immediately locked up in a cage for years without having your day in court and the right to legal representation to argue your case. But in Oregon (as well as in California for the past several years), that foundational component of the law is being thrown out. While ostensibly for benign purposes, the potential for arbitrary enforcement of this kind of law is a danger too great to risk.
