The Hortonville-based manufacturer BenShot gave its employees handguns as Christmas gifts. On a visit to their factory on Monday, owner Ben Wolfgram said that the gift was “for personal safety and also for team building.”
Ben added that “there are two employees decided that they didn’t want the gun. And for them, we gave them VISA gift cards.”
Kolton Sleeter is one of the lucky recipients. He said he already owned a pistol, which he carried at work, so he used a gift card to purchase an AR-15 rifle instead.
The family-owned business makes drinking glasses embedded with bullets. It has 16 full-time employees and is located in a Wisconsin village of around 2,700 residents.
