A study shows there is something in the western environment which increases asthma and allergies.

From study: Our findings suggest a strong influence of the environment on the development of asthma and allergic diseases throughout the life course. The prevalence of asthma is generally higher in second generation than first generation immigrants. With length of residence in the host country the prevalence of asthma and allergic diseases increases steadily. These findings are consistent across study populations, host countries, and children as well as adults. Differences have been found to be significant when tested in a linear model, as well as when comparing between early and later age of migration, and between shorter and longer time of residence.”

Microsoft Vows to Hand Over All Its Technologies to US Military

As big tech in the US faces increased opposition from its own employees over Pentagon contracts, the head of Microsoft Corporation appears to have decided to throw his weight behind the US military and to offer them full support.
Microsoft is “going to provide the US military with access to the best technology … all the technology we create. Full stop,” Brad Smith, the president of the tech giant, said at the Reagan National Defense Forum, held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California.

Smith also sought to explain his decision, saying his company actually wants “Silicon Valley to know just how ethical and honorable a tradition the military has.” He argued that the military should not be left out of global technological progress in the field of artificial intelligence, which is “of importance to everybody and not just young people who happen to live on the West Coast.”

Iran bolsters its fleet with domestically-made ‘Wave’ project destroyer

Iran added an advanced new warship to its naval fleet in a ceremony in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas on Saturday, as shown in footage released by state television. The Sahand destroyer is a domestically-built warship equipped with a close-in weapon system which is capable of destroying any approaching target from two kilometers away, according to the state. It can also undertake long-distance missions and its main structure is capable of radar evasion. The Sahand destroyer is the third and most advanced destroyer to be produced as part of the Iranian navy’s Mowj (Wave) project.
