Minor clashes erupt in Algeria as students protest Bouteflika’s presidential bid

Students rallied in Algiers on Sunday to protest against President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s bid for a fifth term in office. Minor clashes erupted, as police used water cannons to disperse protesters.
The demonstrations were triggered by the announcement made by the 82-year-old Bouteflika this month that he would seek re-election in the April 18 presidential vote.
