Wanin International is the Taiwanese company, agent for Xishanju. Xishanju is the Chinese gaming company, forced shutting down Taiwan’s server without notifying Wanin International, even though Wanin International owns the right in Taiwan.

However, after the game resumed, some players proposed the term “China Wuhan Pneumonia” while discussing COVID-19, also known as the CCP virus, in the game.

A screenshot of their discussion was then taken and reported by Chinese players to the company administrator. The Chinese company “Xishanju” soon blocked these player’s accounts. One player was banned for 10 years.

During the early morning hours of April 5, Wanin International issued a statement: “The original manufacturer (Xishanju) set specifications that don’t meet with Taiwan’s free speech environment. We would rather terminate the contract and stop any commercial cooperation with the Chinese manufacturers. Eventually, the two sides suspended their contract.

The quick decision stunned Taiwanese players, but left them very pleased. They all praised Wanin International’s “no kneeling” attitude.

“What other games does Wanin International delegate? Let’s support it with action.”

China’s NGO activist, Yang Zhanqing: “I think that although Wanin International is a commercial company, it chose to stand with the values ​​of freedom of speech, rather suffering huge business losses than to work with such companies who block free speech. This is rare and valuable.”

Yang Zhanqing said that the Chinese government initially called the CCP virus “Wuhan pneumonia” as well. Later, in order to shift the blame from the origin of the virus, it prohibited people from using this name.

Yang Zhanqing: “A game company banning players’ accounts, has a lot to do with the CCP’s long-term suppression of free-speech. Under this kind of environment, everyone is worried and would perform self-censoring. Companies in China will follow what’s told by the CCP in order to survive.”

Yang Zhanqing said that in recent years, the CCP has extended its control of speech to the world and the impact has grown bigger. This is drastically damaging Western democratic values. He hopes that more businesses will withstand the CCP’s threats.

As of April 25, Taiwan has reported 429 confirmed cases of the CCP virus pandemic, 6 deaths, and 275 people out of quarantine.

Taiwan has initiated a second international donation of 6 million surgical masks, which have been delivered to Germany, the United States, and other countries. Michael Roth, Minister of State for Europe at the Federal Foreign Office, publicly thanked Taiwan for donating to Germany 1 million masks. In addition, the U.S. has also received 1 million masks, with 100,000 sent to the state of Massachusetts, which showed its gratitude toward Taiwan.

They not only made the masks but they delivered them as well, which we are very grateful for.”

U.S. Representative Donald Wong from Massachusetts said, “In the Asian Pacific, I think Taiwan is the leading country that has been fighting this virus and has so much success, and there is much to learn from each other.”

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo indicated that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) took advantage of the pandemic to continue its provocative actions, including arresting Hong Kong democracy advocates and exerting military pressure on Taiwan.

Mike Pompeo said, “I want to highlight two ways in which the Chinese Communist Party is exploiting the world’s focus on COVID-19 crisis by continuing its provocative behavior. First, we commented on what’s taking place in Hong Kong and increased efforts by Beijing to erode autonomy of law enforcement authorities to arrest pro-democracy activists, including 81 year-old Martin Lee (Lee Chu-ming).”

Last Saturday, Hong Kong police arrested 15 pro-democracy activists belonging to different political parties and organizations.

Mike Pompeo stated: “You’ve also seen that the Chinese Communist Party is exerting military pressure on Taiwan and coercing its neighbors in the South China Sea, even going so far as to sink a Vietnamese fishing vessel. The United States strongly opposes China’s bullying, we hope other nations will hold them to account, too.”

As of April 10, according to information publicly disclosed by the Ministry of National Defense of Taiwan, the Chinese military aircraft have been spotted six times this year in waters adjacent to Taiwan. The “Liaoning Military Ship” carrier formation also appeared in eastern Taiwan waters on April 12.

In Taiwan, the epidemic continues to develop after 31 soldiers and officers tested positive for the CCP virus on the Banshi Warship. The travel and contact histories of the confirmed cases are being traced on a large scale. They are estimated to have been to more than 30 locations across 9 counties. Text messages have been sent out to alert the public.

The close contacts and travel history of the soldiers and officers are being urgently investigated to avoid another wave of community spread. For those places that have been exposed to the confirmed cases, people will not be allowed to exit, and the buildings will be disinfected.
