After Wuhan, Mudanjiang has become the second Chinese city to conduct mass nucleic acid screening. Authorities announced that 650,000 people in the urban area had been tested for the CCP virus from June 1 to June 7, with 19 people found to be asymptomatic. The local government reported a positive detection rate of 0.288 per 10,000. However, according to local netizens, the severity of epidemic control measures indicate that this round of outbreak could be very serious.
Netizen Jiamei Xiao left a message on June 3, “Travel restrictions for the third time. People who had just started working were forced to stop. Most incomes were cut-off long ago. I heard people being taken away from my neighborhood and the ambulance sirens would ring every now and then. For the third time, there’s a citywide lockdown and Mudanjiang has become the second Wuhan. Does it not deserve public attention?”
The following video shows that a residential community in Mudanjiang is under strict epidemic prevention and control measures. A large sign at the gate of the residential community shows that no taxis or foreign vehicles are allowed.
“See [how serious] the epidemic [is] in Mudanjiang. No cars are allowed and people without their residential community’s QR code are not allowed either. Look at how many epidemic prevention personnel there are. There are even so many epidemic prevention booths.”
“Look at the Chaoxian neighborhood. The police detected two cases of CCP virus infection. Building 3, this is the building that was sealed up completely. The couple at the street office director are infected. The police are here, standing right there. Ah! Police car.”

Scientists Lose Jobs Amid Probe Into Foreign Ties | Declassified | Gina Shakespeare
An ongoing inquiry by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) into grantees’ failures to disclose foreign ties has resulted in the firings and resignations of 54 scientists.
The NIH investigation has investigated 189 scientists for undisclosed foreign ties, with 93 percent of the hidden funding coming from China. Some 77 grantees have been removed from the NIH system as a result of the probe.
The numbers were revealed on June 12 in a presentation by Michael Lauer, the NIH deputy director for extramural research. The NIH’s effort dates back to August 2018, when the organization warned universities across the nation that some foreign entities have been systematically targeting NIH researchers to divert intellectual property and obtain confidential information.
The NIH effort is part of a larger U.S. government campaign to counter the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) infiltration of American academia. The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI have made arrests and reached settlements in several cases involving researchers as part of its broader China Initiative launched in November 2018.
