One thought on “WHATEVER YOU NEED IN LIFE WILL CONTROL YOU”
My take on that is each person has his/her own need in life — food to eat, safe water to drink, house to live, etc. (the basic ones). But when your WANT/DESIRE exceeded your day-to-day NEED then definitely your WANT can control you ’cause somebody might offer you something like what the speaker said but if you are satisfied you are getting your daily dose of what you need in life & satisfied – nobody can control you. People get obsessed when they WANT to have certain thing(s) that is impossible for them to get and that’s not the daily need in life. So we must not confuse the word NEED from WANT. For example, you have a 9:00 a.m. doctor’s appointment and you NEED to fulfill your appointment exactly 9:00 a.m. But if you see a beautiful car and you say to yourself, “I will get it by hook or by crook” (which we often hear that saying) then the WANT to have that car can get you in trouble (obsession). Now let’s look at what Uncle Webster’s said: “NEED is a condition or situation in which something must be supplied in order for a certain condition to be maintained” like our daily food to eat and water to drink. While WANT – “To have a strong feeling to have (something); wish (to possess or do something); DESIRE greatly” and that desire can get us into trouble (sometimes) especially for those people who cannot afford the things they desire or want. – Cynthia
o have a strong feeling to have (something); wish (to possess or do something); desire greatly: synonym: desire.
