People seeking a US visa may soon be required to disclose their social media information so that five years’ worth of their online footprint can be scrutinized. It was previously reserved for people from terrorism-affected states.
Diplomats and travelers facing extreme medical situations are to be exempt from the new, more rigorous vetting procedure proposed by the US State Department. Authorities have arrested a man in Washington State after several suspicious packages were discovered at military bases and government sites in the Washington, DC, metro area.
Police are investigating a “suspicious brown substance” found in an envelope sent to the office of a congresswoman in New Hampshire. Separately, the FBI is examining suspicious packages delivered to US military facilities.
The package arrived at the office of Democratic Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter in Dover on Monday afternoon. Staff alerted the police as soon as they opened it.
