‘Desert Warriors’: Astounding 2,500yo Carvings Found In Peru

Scores of previously-unknown ancient drawings have been discovered in the Peruvian desert. The phenomenal images are believed to be some 100 years older than those previously found in the area.
Researchers used drones to capture never-before-seen footage of the striking ancient geoglyphs in the Palpa province, finding 50 new examples in the process, National Geographic reports.

Body of Missing CDC Scientist Found In Atlanta River

A body recovered this week from a river in Atlanta has been identified as the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention epidemiologist who vanished in February, Atlanta Police Department spokesman Carlos Campos said Thursday.

The remains of Timothy Cunningham, 35, were found Tuesday in the Chattahoochee River in northwest Atlanta, Campos said.
A news conference is set for 2 p.m. ET Thursday. The Atlanta Police Department, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department will participate.

China’s Military Tells Russia ‘We’ve Come to Support You’ Against West

China’s military leadership has pledged its support to Russia as tensions between Moscow and the West further deteriorate into diplomatic isolation, economic sanctions and dueling defense drills.

In his first visit to Russia, newly appointed Chinese Defense Minister Wei Feng attended the seventh Moscow International Security Conference accompanied by a delegation of other high-level military officials. Emphasizing that his trip was coordinated directly with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Wei said that he had two major messages for Russia at a time when both nations were attempting to modernize their armed forces and strengthen their hands in global affairs in spite of U.S. fears.

Russia & China to Merge Satellite Tracking Systems Into One Global Navigation Giant

Moscow and Beijing will team up to create an integrated navigation system based on Russia’s Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) and the Chinese BeiDou. The system will cover most of Eurasia.

One of the Biggest Card Heists in History: Hackers Steal Records of 5mn People

In what has been described as one of the biggest card heists in history, a hacker group claims it obtained payment details relating to five million customers of Saks Fifth Avenue and Lord&Taylor stores, located mostly in the US.
The breach was first discovered by cybersecurity firm, Gemini Advisory, and was later confirmed by Hudson’s Bay Company – one of Canada’s largest retail groups with a specific focus on the luxury market. The company owns Saks Fifth Avenue, Saks Off 5th and Lord&Taylor stores, which were identified by Gemini as victims of the hack.

Mount Etna is slowly sliding into the Mediterranean Sea, according to the first study which confirms the entire active volcano is shifting and could trigger catastrophic landslides and devastating tsunamis.
Scientists have confirmed for the first time that the entire volcano is moving in an east-south-east direction towards the town of Giarre, at an average rate of 14mm (.55 inches) a year. That’s according to the study published in the Bulletin of Volcanology.
