Police say the pilot of an ultralight plane climbed down a tree to safety after his small aircraft crashed into a forested area in southern Nova Scotia.
RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Clarke says the plane went into the trees moments after taking off from the local airport in Greenfield at about noon today.
She says the pilot was the only person on board and was not injured.
The Transportation Safety Board and Transport Canada are assisting in the investigation.
Clarke says she wasn’t aware of the weather conditions at the time.
She says there is no indication yet as to what caused the crash

Experts have warned that a devastating global cyber attack is imminent.
The hack, called ‘ExplodingCan’, targets computers running on Microsoft Windows 2003, which means that it could be used to attack 375,000 computers worldwide.
This puts it in the same risk category as last month’s WannaCry ransomware attack which caused mayhem around the world, crippling vital servers such as those used by the NHS.

Theresa May’s internet clampdown could backfire, warns civil rights group — RT UK
Internet regulations proposed by Prime Minister Theresa May in response to the London Bridge terrorist attack could backfire by making extremists even harder to track, according to the Open Rights Group (ORG).
In a statement following a meeting of the Cabinet Office Briefing Room, known as COBRA, May said regulations are needed to deny space for extremism.
It comes in the wake of two terrorist attacks in the space of two weeks – in London Bridge on Saturday and in Manchester on May 22 – which followed a deadly assault on Parliament in March.
“We cannot allow this ideology the safe space it needs to breed – yet that is precisely what the internet, and the big companies that provide internet-based services provide,” May said.
“We need to work with allied democratic governments to reach international agreements to regulate cyberspace to prevent the spread of extremism and terrorism planning,” she added.
Civil rights activists, however, warned such powers could have the opposite effect.
“If successful, Theresa May could push these vile networks into even darker corners of the web, where they will be even harder to observe,” ORG director Jim Killock told the Independent on Monday.
“But we should not be distracted: the internet and companies like Facebook are not a cause of this hatred and violence, but tools that can be abused.
“While governments and companies should take sensible measures to stop abuse, attempts to control the internet is not the simple solution that Theresa May is claiming.”

Multiple people are dead after a shooting at an Orlando, Florida business Monday morning.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said there had been ‘multiple fatalities’ in the ‘tragic’ 8am incident, and that the situation has been ‘stabilized’.
Officials have not given an exact number of fatalities, but WFTV reports that five people were killed – including the gunman.
Sources told WKMG that the shooter was a disgruntled employee at Fiamma, an Italian-owned business that makes RV awnings.

In reality, Putin explained, people with briefcases come visit him, well-dressed, in dark suits, kind of like mine, except instead of a red tie it’s black or navy.
These “men in black” remain anonymous to the voting public continue to pursue the well-established interests of the US elite with each incoming administration!
