South Korea and the US launched major combined air-force drills involving hundreds of aircraft from Kunsan Airbase on Monday.
The annual ‘Vigilant Ace’ drills feature 230 aircraft, including six F-22 and 18 F-35 stealth fighter jets. A total of 12,000 US military personnel are taking part in the exercises, which will last five days.
The exercises come one week after North Korea announced the launch of a new type of intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), which could ‘target the entire area of mainland United States.’
