US space agency NASA successfully sent off its unmanned Parker Solar Probe into orbit with the aim of ‘touching the sun’. It was launched onboard a Delta-IV Heavy rocket at Cape Canaveral, Florida at 3.31am local time.

International Army Games conclude with fireworks display in closing ceremony

A fireworks display marks the end of the International Army Games 2018 as the closing ceremony continues at the Patriot park in the Moscow Region on Saturday, August 11.

The annual military competition has been held since 2015 on the initiative of the Russian defence ministry and has expanded ever since.

Altogether teams from 32 countries participated in this year’s edition of the army games, which consisted of 28 competitions including contests with tanks, snipers, and different air and sea disciplines.

Breathtaking stunts in Russian military aviation competition’s closing ceremony

The Russian aviation team were awarded champion of the military aviation competition Aviadarts 2018 at Ryazan’s Dyagilevo Air Base on Saturday.

Following the award ceremony, Russian fighter jets and helicopters performed breath-taking stunts marking the end of the tournament.

Among the aerobatic teams were the Russian Knights on Sukhoi SU-30SM fighters, the Berkuts piloting Mi-28N helicopters, and the Russian Falcons on Sukhoi SU-27 jets.
