South Korea Is Preparing A “Surgical Strike” Against The North
According to a report in South Korea’s Munhwa Ilbo newspaper, which cites an unidentified government official, South Korea’s military is preparing a “surgical strike” scenario that could wipe out North Korean command and missile and nuclear facilities following an order by S.Korea’s President Moon Jae-in. Munhwa adds that the military is to report the scenario to presidential office after completing it as early as August 1.
As the report details, South Korea’s Special Forces are preparing a special strike op which would be launched in response to President Moon Jae-In’s order to remove the North Korean leadership in case of emergency. This operation is taking place in addition to separate preparations currently conducted by the country’s military forces.
Targeted by the surgical strike would be North Korea’s core facilities. As part of the operation, South Korea’s forces would launch Taurus cruise missiles from F-15 fighters, which would be able to strike all key facilities in Pyongyang and can also strike the office of the Chairman of the Labor Party, Kim Jong Eun, at the Pyongyang Labor Party headquarters.
The newspaper also adds that the South Korean military’s own strike-hit scenarios include plans to create a special mission brigade of 1,000 to 2,000 at the end of this year with plans to eliminate war leadership figures such as Kim Jong Un and paralyze warfare command facilities in case of emergency. The military authorities have already commenced the CH-47D (Chinook) performance improvement project to transport these special mission brigades

CIRCA: FBI General Counsel is allegedly under DOJ investigation
FBI General Counsel James A. Baker is purportedly under a Department of Justice criminal investigation for allegedly leaking classified national security information to the media, according to multiple government officials close to the probe who spoke with Circa on the condition of anonymity.
FBI spokeswoman Carol Cratty said the bureau would not comment on Baker and would not confirm or deny any investigation.
This comes as Department of Justice Attorney General Jeff Sessions said he would soon be making an announcement regarding the progress of leak investigations. A DOJ official declined to comment on Circa’s inquiry into Baker but did say, the planned announcement by Sessions is part of the overall “stepped up efforts on leak investigations.”

Calls mount for Wasserman Shultz to be investigated over Imran Awan
A conservative-leaning government watchdog group on Monday asked the Office of Congressional Ethics to investigate whether Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) violated ethics rules by employing an IT staffer prevented from accessing the House computer system.
In a complaint to the Office of Congressional Ethics, the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) questioned why Imran Awan had been employed by Wasserman Schultz despite being at the center of a criminal investigation on Capitol Hill for allegedly stealing equipment.

Time for Talk On N.Korea Is ‘Over’ – US Envoy to UN
The US envoy to the UN, Nikki Haley, has said that the time for talk on North Korea is “over,” and that another weak UNSC resolution is “worse than nothing.” Tensions are flaring over Pyongyang’s recent tests of what it said were intercontinental ballistic missiles.
Haley noted that “an additional Security Council resolution that does not significantly increase the international pressure on North Korea is of no value” and it “sends the message to the North Korean dictator that the international community is unwilling to seriously challenge him,” according to the envoy’s statement cited by AFP.
“The time for talk is over,” the US envoy added.

Incoming Asteroid Set to Buzz by Earth On October 12th, Exact Path Still Unknown
An asteroid due to make a close approach to Earth in October will test NASA’s planetary defense system and assess the capability of scientists to locate future threats, the organization’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) has announced.
NASA scientists are “excited” about the upcoming flyby, according to a statement released by the JPL on Friday, as it will provide a chance to “test NASA’s network of observatories and scientists who work with planetary defense.”
