An unexpected journey in southern Australia caught a koala by surprise, which was nestled on a wheel arch of a 4WD. Animal travelled 16km before the driver heard it crying out.
The koala suffered superficial injuries, but is now safe and sound, and was released back into the wild on Friday.

The Libyan coastguard picked up 8 inflatable boats with 1,047 migrants and refugees aboard before reportedly setting fire to the vessels off the Libyan coast on Saturday. The asylum-seekers were later handed over to the Immigration Control Agency in Zawya, west of Tripoli. The Libyan coastguard prevents migrants from trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea to Europe, with support from the EU.

Another front in the effort to rid Syria of terrorists is Raqqa, where ISIS is also on the back foot. The city is surrounded by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, consisting mainly of Kurdish militias. Clashes are ongoing, as the terrorists are still in control of several blocks of the city.

Clashes erupted between protesters and police in Athens at a demonstration marking the 4-year anniversary of the murder of Antifa rapper Pavlos Fyssas’ by a far-right Golden Dawn supporter, on Saturday. Protesters chanted ‘crush the Nazis’ as they made their way to Golden Dawn headquarters demanding that the party is shut down. Shortly after protesters clashed with riot police as Molotov cocktails were thrown and tear gas used to quell the violence. Golden Dawn is currently under investigation for evidence linking it violent attacks such as the murder of Pavlos Fyssas.

Anti-police brutality protests in the US city of St. Louis have erupted in violence, with demonstrators throwing rocks at the mayor’s house and assaulting police.
Ten officers were injured and 32 people were arrested. The unrest began after a former policeman was found not guilty of murdering a black man in 2011.
