An observer with the CoCoRaHS network near Swansboro, North Carolina, northeast of Wilmington, tallied 34 inches of rain from Florence through Monday morning.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is being tight-lipped about an “unusual event” which occurred at the Brunswick Nuclear Plant last Saturday which forced a “hot shutdown” of both the plant’s Generation IV-type reactors 1 and 2.

The NRC classified the emergency as an “unusual event” but provided little to no details on the situation.

Additionally, the NRC reports that weather conditions from Tropical Storm Florence are currently preventing workers from accessing the plant.

They Just Ran A Simulation of a CAT 4 Hitting The Middle East Coast

Just months ago, disaster planners simulated a Category 4 hurricane strike alarmingly similar to the real-word scenario now unfolding on a dangerously vulnerable stretch of the East Coast.

A fictional “Hurricane Cora” barreled into southeast Virginia and up the Chesapeake Bay to strike Washington, D.C., in the narrative created by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Argonne National Laboratory.

The result was catastrophic damage, which has some experts concerned that Hurricane Florence could produce a disaster comparable to 2005’s Hurricane Katrina and in a part of the country that is famously difficult to evacuate.

The simulated hurricane knocked out power for most gas stations in the Mid-Atlantic region, damaged a nuclear power plant and sent debris into major shipping channels, among other problems, according to a Department of Energy simulation manual.

As 5G technology begins to roll out across the country, it is being met by a massive wave of resistance over concerns that it can cause health problems. One city in California—reacting to an overwhelming outpouring of concern—has taken an extreme step and blocked the technology from being implemented.

This week, the city of Mill Valley, CA, a wealthy city just north of San Francisco, voted unanimously to effectively halt the installation of new small cell towers which carry the 5G technology.
